When the Vento TDi caught fire and the driver died, everyone went ballastic on how VW was tryng to hide things under the carpet, how they should not be allowed to sell car's till they come out with full detail's on why this incident happened, how slow the investigation progress was going & many more such angry statements. Do note even then only 1 TDi engined car from the VW group had caught fire yet people were so angry and many were even feeling unsafe in their cars. People who had bought the Vento were wondering if they had made a mistake and the ones that didn't were smugly smiling on their clever decision. A similar incident happens with a Marut Swift - India's largest selling car last month and what happens? People are disucssing on how the central locking can be manually opened in such situations and that this was a needless death. Some even suggested that the driver should have kicked the windscreen to get out! With the Vento everyone was asking WHY the car went up in flames. With the Swift, no body is talking about WHY the car went up in flames. Instead people are talking about how the driver could have easily escaped if he knew the car well and had presence of mind!
