Rs. 95,000 discount on Punto, they are talking about the FIAT Upgrade Offer. Diesel car for Petrol cars price.

Even I was also shocked cause I read/saw this article when I booked the car.

The way the upgrade offer has been reported in newspapers is completely misguiding. Even the caption "diesel at the price of petrol" is thorughly confusing. In marketing, things can get bad if you dont get the message right!

    Tax on diesel cars

Just saw a news item in CNN-IBN today, that the FM is seriously considering a proposal to TAX Luxury Diesel Cars. The catch here is Luxury Cars, does it means any specific category, SUV, C segment etc ?? Even the ex Environment Minister was making a lot of noises about taxing the fuel guzzling SUV's.

Fiat To Make Diesel Engines For Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki has received 40000 bookings for the Swift diesel alone and are in serious need of more diesel engines for their cars. Their manufacturing capacity is running on more than optimum capacity and the company is cutting export of the diesel motors to Hungary to reduce waiting period in India. However all this won’t help much and Maruti Suzuki has now decided to partner with diesel engine pioneers, Fiat to produce diesel engines for the Ritz, Swift, DZire and SX4. Now Maruti Suzuki will soon be signing a supply agreement with Fiat. India’s largest automaker recently conducted a technical feasibility study on Fiat’s Multijet engines, as some parts are different on Fiat diesel cars.

“We need to do a lot of work before going for these engines. Besides technical changes to meet our needs, we need to homologate (technically certify) our cars again to be launched with any Fiat engine in India,” R C Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki, said.

Now Fiat will obviously gobble this opportunity without a second thought. The company has not been able to make significant profits even after help from Tata Motors in manufacturing and distribution. Fiat Powertrain Technologies which manufacturers diesel engines also supplies to Tata Motors for its Indica and Indigo range of cars. With Maruti Suzuki now openly sourcing these engine (currently they manufacture the Multijet engines at Manesar and have a license deal with Fiat for the same) from Fiat, we believe Honda too should ask the Italian automaker to give them some Multijet love.

    10.65 lakh!

Should've been something like 9 lakh for the top model. Apart from the Mercedes diesel, i don't think there's any reason to buy this leviathan. 2.5 tons is a lot of mass.

@varoon bai g-Yes. VW's DSG gearboxes have been failing since day one. But as you said, still everyone is ga ga over VW. God only knows why the mindset is so strongly biased.

    Sample this
If the roof beading of Fiat seems mis aligned, everyone starts sharpening knives to cut Fiat's throat. If VW etc have problems, people simply brush it away.

Ratan Tata stuck in traffic jam at Vijayawada (AP) for 45 minutes. He was on a visit to the city to attend function at local dealer for having sold 234 Nanos in 14 days. Local dealer, Jasper Industries, struggled to clear him from the traffic jam caused due to Lorry strike. Mr. Tata had to walk for while on NH before getting into an alternate vehicle.
