:-D AFAIK, It needs some ultrasonic handheld probe to determine a paint thickness. Anyways, dont worry about that. I doubt if even the dealer knows how to get it and check the same. They are used by specialists and in car factories I guess.

Just check the PDI checklist and go through the whole list carefully checking out each and every aspect. Get hold of some expert mechanic to accompany you if you have lost faith just to make sure they are not selling you a bad apple. I doubt that they would go to such lengths though.

    Thanks asimpleson!
I know I am sounding a bit paranoid but all this is in the backdrop of how things have moved since 6th of this month. I have stopped answering their calls and insisting only on email communications in the last leg. They have been desperately calling me but I am insisting on email communications only. Getting a mechanic who knows FIAT in my city would be difficult on such a short notice because LINEA sales aren't that staggering to have a financially viable third party servicing joints for Linea. The vehicle is to be unloaded in an hour and they wanted me to do PDI today which I have refused citing requirement of doing in broad daylight.

    Thanks again.

Oh I can understand completely your predicament vis a vis this dealer and him having your car. A little bad blood due to argument can lead to some serious malice between people. We can never be too sure if one wants you to suffer. Having said that it was a good move that you decided to do the PDI tommorrow. Take a PDI checklist print from this forum. Do it in broad daylight and insist that it be done in the open. Carry a camera and take a thousand pics :) of the good and bad things (if you find any) on the car. You don't want any surprises on day of delivery. PDI is not the last thing in your arsenal. You can always reject a car's delivery, if they so much as miss a screw from your car. No one wants legal hassles these days. Take things with a smile but let them not be too comfortable with you either. I think if the dealer may want to patch things here, give him a chance where possible.

Sure I have the PDI checklist ready (print out) and would be taking snaps too. Dealer was eager to fit accessories before PDI and I have told them to put on hold till we finish our bit of PDI. The PDI is arranged at workshop tomorrow but would ask them to move the car out in open if it is not so Yup! I am now taking things with a smile and I have told all concerned (dealer and Fiat India) that I am not the first nor would be the last finicky customer that their team has to handle well and mentioned that I am hopeful that this nightmare would be a thing of the past, going forward :)

One bright spot is that Fiat India is handling it well on their Facebook page so due credits to them for that. They aren't deleting comments like Skoda does :)

    Thanks Veterans!
Did a PDI today and it was an extensive one based on the PDI checklist and lasted good 45 minutes.Took a few photographs. Since nothing major was found (except two issues that would need workshop intervention) I di not insist on taking the car outside as it was . Which thread/forum do I post from here on?

Concluding this thread with All is well that ends well and I am sure all the issues that I faced would be a thing of the past and I am in patch-up mode with everyone at the dealership (though nothing ever really went out of control except yesterday when I stopped receiving all calls and insisted on email communications only :)
