Dealers in Chennai don't encourage the Temp Registration if the vehicle is bought and to be registered in Chennai itself. The cost of registration is very high in Tamilnadu including the cost for Temp Registration. That said, dealer's generally don't deliver the vehicle before the registration process. I am absolutely fine with all these process. But, what is puzzling here is that why on earth do they need 3 days to do the registration? The registration process in Tamilnadu has become online now. Dealers will fill the forms online, take printouts, will get stamping from the financiers as well and then they take the vehicle for the registration.
  2. hey, this is what i found in kerala motor vehicles dept website. the rules cant be very different in ur state.

    Vehicle Registration
The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 prohibits the driving of a motor vehicle in any public place or in any other place without registering it. It is essential that the particulars of every vehicle and its owner should be available in the concerned department or office of Government and that the vehicle should be distinguishable from other vehicles by sight. The registration mark should be displayed in specified places and in specified manner.

    Registration of New vehicles

Application for registration of a new vehicle shall be submitted before the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the applicant is residing or having his business and the vehicle is normally kept. The application for registration shall be made in Form 20, within a period of 7 days from the date of delivery of such vehicle excluding the period of journey. It shall be accompanied by

    1. Application in Form 20
    2. Sale Certificate in Form 21.
    3. Valid Insurance Certificate.
    4. Road worthiness certificate in Form 22 from the manufacturers
    5. In the case of a body built vehicle, Form 22A from the body builder.
    6. Proof of address.
    7. Design approval copy of STA in the case of a Trailer or Semi Trailer.
    8. Original sale certificate from the concerned authorities in Form 21 in the case of ex-army vehicle.
    9. Temporary registration , if any.
    10.Pencil print of chassis number
11.Customs clearance certificate in the case of Imported Vehicles.
12.Appropriate Fee as specified in Rule 81 of CMV Rules

    Temporary Registration

A Temporary Registration is issued to a new vehicle to transport it from the place of purchase to the place of registration. The temporary registration is issued for a period of 7 days. But for a chassis to which a body has to be built ,the validity will be for one month. The application for temporary registration shall be made in Form No.20. Fee for Temporary Registration is Rs 50/-

    Extension of Temporary Registration

Extension of temporary registration will be allowed in the case of a motor vehicle so registered is a chassis. An application for extension of the period of Temporary Registration shall be made to the Registering Authority before the expiry of temporary registration specifying the period up to which extension is necessary and shall be accompanied by the Temporary Registration Form C.R.Tem. The fee for extension of Temporary Registration shall be Rs.50/-.

We would have loved to but we don't deal with him anymore. He is plain ignorant and bit arrogant as well. So relativity should probably contact the CRM, I believe her name is Suganya.

I have also booked Punto 90 HP, but from Concorde Chennai.

As per the dealer - my car has also arrived and is in the yard. But he has mentioned clearly that they can do the registration only on friday due to some local RTO process. So, i think your dealer has a genuine reason.

Will be taking delivery on Saturday/ Monday.

But where does the three days quoted arrive in picture? They need to create Form 20 before sending the car to RTO which is a days task not three days. Also Concorde need to follow lots of process since they are company owned unlike VST.

Sorry bro but the suggestion is of "no use" now to relativity, It's too late. He must be at VST right now & fighting for his Punto to bring her home today only:boxer We have pampered him enough yesterday for a brief brawl with the ignorant VST guy there:nicethread.

    Hi Teky,
Who is Suganya, do you have any contact details?
I spoke to Linesh, my SA and he confirmed that they have fixed days at the RTO for registeration of Fiats and Tata vehicles as Tata registers about 20 cars a days whereas Fiat is 2-3 a week so driver alocation is accordingly.
I am fine with registeration on Friday and delivery on Saturday as I really don't want to run around on a weekday.
The said they will send some Form 20 and I need to print, sign , scan and return to them for registeration. Still haven't received it.
You ae correct about Fazil being arrogant as his boss Vikram spoke very nicely to me on the phone and apologized several times for Fazil's behaviour. But when I went to make the payment Fazil had no shame or apology to offer. His attitude is like buy it if want it else we are a big group. What Fiat does not realize is that such people are doing permanent damage to their sales. Fiat should have zero tolerance and should encourage customers to give sales feedback directly to Fiat and this feedback should have an impact on the sales guy's annual performance review.

@Relativity - That is the reason why I am not recommending VST to anyone. Even if the cost is more by 5-10K, it's better to stick with Concorde, Chennai. After all, the sales experience has to be pleasant and memorable to be remembered forever.

Never mind. Once you start driving the car, you will forget about everything. You can provide the sales feedback while taking the delivery of your vehicle. But, that will directly affect your SA and not the TL. You need to specifically mention this clearly in the feedback form.
