I was one among the first 10-15 members in the Punto User group in google and registered TFI as and when it started. Sorry for not posting much as I am busy with work these days

Coming to the car, i bought it on Oct16,2009 from Kulathunkal, TVM. My first car and I feel i made the right decision to buy a Punto. Its a medium grey emotion

    List of accessories/upgrades till now
    ------------------------------------
    G-Sports seat covers
    Garware Icecool shield on Windshield
Headlamps upgraded to 100/90 Philips Rally
Tyres upgaded to 185/70 R14 A-Drives from the stock B250 (Done @ 6500km). Odo now @ 18500 and good tyres are very essential for Punto :)
ICE - Focal Solid4 Amp, DLS C6A comps on front and JBL GTO 608c on rear doors
Noise Kill damping on all doors (Need to do a better damping)
Driver arm rest(Swift one cut to fit in Punto)

    Issues faced till now
    ---------------
A/C drain pipe disconnected and footwell got wet. Reconnected and problem solved
Front LHS indicator bulb konked off. Replaced FOC by dealer
Gear knob cover coming loose. Did a small DIY and its solved (Removed the knob, put in some paper and retightened the knob ) ::D
Clunking sound from rear when going over potholes- Rear left swing arm was replaced under warranty. Problem solved
Plastic under the windshield coming loose. Nothing can be done about it. Replacement also will come loose :A
Squeaks from under the driver seat at times. Not resolved
Slight rattles from inside the rear bumper (Cause is the plastic holders for the fog lamp and reverse lamp wirings. Nothing can be done about it. Its present in every Punto I have seen)
Some scratches are present here and there. Need to get atleast the front bumper repainted after getting some more scratches

    Positives
    --------
The best drivers hatchback. Could do with better gearing
    Hadnling and steering feedback
Unlike the OHC, comfort and handling goes hand in hand in the Punto
    Looks Looks Looks
    Solid Build
Great brakes (Its the best in the segment) . SA said pads will last for atleast 6k kms more during 2nd service
Service costs till now - 5000Rs
No plastics fell off till now :)

    Negatives
    ---------
Underbody (front bumper underside) gets scrapped easily
    2nd gear is useless
    No good bottle holders

Regularly fills up from Reliance (mostly) or COCO BP outlet. Odo now @ 18.5Kms in 12 months. Have took her to territories where only SUVs can go. Still she makes me smile. And thats the most important thing. Will post more pics soon

After upgrading your tyre to 185/70 R14 A-Drives, do you still feel GC is not enough? This should have increased your GC a bit, from OE 175/14.
BTW, how is your experience with A-Drive?

GC has improved. But still the front overhang tends to get scraped

A-drives are really good VFM tyres. Would recommend it as an upgrade for Emotion

Soccerfan, regarding "Clunking sound from rear when going over potholes- Rear left swing arm was replaced under warranty. Problem solved"
Did the clunk occur always? My Punto also gives a clunk occasionally. Initially it was there, then it vanished for some weeks, now its back again. I am not able to pin-point the source. Its somewher from the left rear wheel/door or boot.

Emotion + Kerala roads = scrape scrape.

I am seriously thinking of a tyre change. How much did you get for the B250? Is steering hard after putting on 185/70 R14? Did u use the OEM rims?

In mine it used to happen always when i was driving over slightly pot holes roads. Just take it to TASS and have a test drive with the SA

Im using A-drives on stock rims. Steering hasnt become hard. I cowuld say its more comfortable now/less noise.
I got only around 3000 for 4 tyres as i had already done around 6.5k kms on them ::pP

OK, now we have a common problem here, I too hear this mysterious sound somewhere towards the rear left, but not sure if its boot, door, suspension or anything else, but its only when the chassis is strained because of pothole big enough to rock the car.
How much you paid for the A-drives? How do you feel about the grip on wet surface. Which all brands you compared before zeroing in for A-drives?

"Headlamps upgraded to 100/90 Philips Rally"

    Hi soccerfan

Can you give some more information regarding the headlamp upgrade. I am also planning to do this. But was not able to do so. since people here say that there is no wiring kit avaiable for punto.

    Cheers
    Vijay

    Hi Pran

I paid 3.2k for each A-drive. 3000rs discounted from the total for 4 tyres. So net paid 9800rs. I evaluated xm1+ and a-drives. XM1+ was out of my budget. So selection was easy for me ::D . Grip is good in wet surfaces i would say.

Get your suspension checked Pran. Also check the rear bumper and underbody for any loose metal parts

Wiring kit is the same for all cars. What is not straight forward is that you need to get the ceramic holder for high wattage bulb into the hadlight assembly. There is a plastic cover, covering the assembly. To avoid breaking this, you need to cut the wire from the ceramic holder in the wiring kit and then place the holder inside the assembly. Take the wire out through the opening in the plastic cover and connect with the other part which goes to the relay and tape it with insulation tape.

    Linea 1.4
Welcome Soccerfan. I checked with muneem (Galaxy) regarding ICE for my Linea and he told about your upgrade. Would you mind sharing the ICE upgrade?. My specific queries:

    - are Focal replacements good enough?
    - Did you use amp? If yes which one.
    - How was amp connectivity established, esp the amp remaining "on" problem. :confused
    - If you did not fit amp, is the HU able to provide a good drive to speakers?
    - Would you recommend full damping for doors?
    - How much did the whole thing cost :D
