    Hi All,
I am planning to buy Car GPS navigation system. I need fellow TFIan's advice to help me in selecting the best GPS device.
    My requirements are-
    1. It should be a dedicated Sattelite based GPS device, No Mobile or Tablet that use GPRS data for computing position
    2. Map updates should be free for lifetime, don't wan't to spend money on renewing licence
    3. Should be small in size like 4.5 inch max
    4. Don't need multimedia, blue tooth features but if reverse parking camera screen can be interface will be too good
    5. I can upload - download maps to & from google map

Check MapMyIndia RoadPilot series (site shows out of stock) or TomTom.

Buy a Garmin device and load in it whichever maps you want.
You can consider the following india maps:
    -Garmin City Navigator India NT
    -MapMyIndia
Garmin device comes with "Garmin City Navigator India NT" with lifetime update. If the device name has the suffix LM, that means the device will get lifetime map update.

Mobiles and tablets have gps and they do compute the position using satellite. Just in case you have a mobile with gps try downloading sygic or free app called navfree. Try it and if you become a fan of gps then go for a dedicated device. Just to be sure not to waste money:D
I personally believe gps is useful only during long trips and seldom in the city.

    tasting the Italian delight!
