My every Goa Travelogue has to start with this favourite pic of mine.

The Goa Trip was originally planned for 20th to 23rd Feb'12. We were to leave on 20th morning to reach Goa by evening. On 18th Noon suddenly I thought why not to leave on 18th afternoon, do a night halt at Amboli & reach Goa on 19th. That will give us 2 full days extra. 20th to 23rd Feb'12 was booked at Club Mahindra Emerald Palms Resort, Varca. So, quickly decided, convinced the family & booked 18th Night at Green Valley resort Amboli & 19th night at my favourite Colonia Santa Maria, Baga Beach, Goa. One of the major driver of this decision was my urge to stay at Baga even for a single day. How can Goa trip be without spending a day at Baga?;)

Even though we planned to leave by 3 - 3.30 pm, as usual we got late & could leave Mumbai only by 4.30 pm. The route taken was Mumbai-Pune-Kolhapur-Nipani-Amboli-Sawantwadi-Goa. I like scenic NH17 route but my wife has is allergic to travelling topsy-turvy Ghat roads with lots of bending.

We crossed Pune at 7.30 pm & halted for dinner after Pune at about 8 pm at a small place called "Mama's Kitchen". We had delicious Gujarati Thali there:). By the time we left the place, it was already 8.45 pm and now we are in a catch up game with time. On the way, we estimated that we would reach Amboli by 1.30 to 2 pm. Wify refused to travel after 12 midnight & insisted on staying at Kolhapur rather than Amboli. Reached Kolhapur at 11.30 pm and after checking 4-5 hotels stayed at "Orient Crown".

Next day morning, again as usual, got late & could leave only by 8.30 am instead of planned 7 am. We reached Goa at about 2 pm, Checked in Colonia Santa Maria (CSM) & straightaway headed for Baga beach which is right on the backside of CSM. Here are some of the Pics:

We checked out from Colonia santa Maria at about 12.30 noon & were on our way to Club Mahindra Emerald Plams, Varca when the disaster struck. Club Mahindra representative called & said that they messed up because of some system issue. The resort is overbooked & they'll have to shift us to an other resort nearby. After much arguments & when she said that it's their mistake & requested to accommodate, I relented. That nearby resort is called Baywatch and is on Serna Batim beach - between Colva & Benolim beach. The resort is good but obviously not as good as Club Mahindra. We reached there at about 2.30 to 3 p.m. had lunch & plunged into the swimming pool.

Next day i.e. 21st, Baywatch was full & we finally shifted to Club Mahindra at noon. Club Mahindra has recently taken over Zuri Resort & is now named as Club Mahindra Emerald Plams. Excellent Property & good facilities. We had lunch & plunged into the swimming pool. There is a Kids Zone where kids played for couple of hours. I also played a few games of Table Tennis. We had our dinner there itself. Meals are a bit costly - buffet lunch is about Rs. 350 per person & buffet dinner is about Rs. 450 per person. Morning Breakfast is Rs. 250 per person.

After Dinner, we visited the "original" Club Mahindra, Varca Beach Resort. Excellent Property. When I booked it was not available.

Next entire day we spent at Varca beach. Went there in the morning. The beach is superb. Not much crowd, only a handful people from our resort. The beach is not deep till quite a distance. And the waves were quite stronger still safe. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Came back to resort, plunged in swimming pool, had lunch & again went to beach :D

Few Pics of Club Mahindra Emerald Palms resort:

Just after NH4, for a few kms, the road condition is bad. After that, till Sawantwadi the road is not bad. Just after Sawantwadi till Goa border check naka, there is raod construction going on & the condition is pathetic with big potholes.

good photos VP...How much did you spend on stay? Club Mahindra seems to be very expensive. We visited Goa in december and stayed at GTDC Calangute.

GTDC calangute is on a prime location. Right on the beach. I stayed at Calangute residency a few times. Always used to stay in the 1st floor rooms facing the beach. In fact all GTDC properties are on such prime location e.g. Colva residency. Tariff at colonia Santa maria was RS 5300 incl extra charges for 1 child and breakfast. Club mahindra was on memership basis. It would be expensive.
LOL  That's only a trailer :mischievous. My kids played there for quite a while longer. :)

    ;)
