Ah is the measure of battery storage capacity. It has nothing to do with amps a battery draws (during charging) or supplies to the load (assuming no change to the load). Higher Ah size of the battery can provide back-up for longer duration (again, assuming no change to load). Charging time and current depends (automobile chargers being voltage controlled) on the state of discharge (proportional to voltage of the battery).

Can you tell me what is the recharge cycle of 50ah ? i am sure car is driven atleast 1-2 hrs per day......:)

    - - - Merged Post - - -

Bingo!!! Thats the main point. more charge storage..!!!! nothing else. I am sure most of us we drive minimum 2 hrs per day + weekend trips to keep the battery charged.

And if somebody uses once a week.. even 50ah can go bad!!!

I was experiencing the strange phenomenon( of car not starting after running 40-50 kms) myself as well, as described by Manju. I have gone for Battery change and replaced the stock battery, which lasted for 3 & 1/2 years, with Amaron 55Ah for 4.5K. Suddenly the car starts faster, crank time is less now, and all that nonsense problems are gone...

As per the dealer, as the Battery gets weaker, it doesn't get charge-up fast enough on long usage and then the voltage keeps on dropping, so even on a running car, it may refuse to crank. When you leave the car for a few hours the chemical reaction has enough time to regenrate the ions it had lost, to bring it a level that it can start the engine. The best way to check is to check the voltgae drop on applying load to the battery with engine on. I was shown how the voltage kept on decreasing fraction by fraction. First they used a transformer kind device for this and then later I put up all electrical system on in the car....same thing happened.

Anyway, now its all gone with the new battery....:up:up

Please share here as well as someone else might also benefit from your experience. Another Gentleman has the same issue as cgujral. Lock key warning error on MID but the battery guy says that the 2 years old OEM exide battery is fine.

I had replaced the battery in my Linea sometime back and i had adamantly put in a 60 AH battery because i am running 100/80 W configuration for high and low beams. It was Amaron FLO DIN 66 -60 Ah. Don't go by the naming conventions. Amaron DIN 65 is a 65 AH battery and will not fit Linea and DIN 66 is a 60AH battery. You need to remove the plastic stopper in the tray and it was a perfect fit. Before you buy, place the battery in the battery tray and check. But the serious moot poin is, DIN 66 was very hard to get when i was looking for and battery dealres will not accept if we say DIN 66 will fit linea. Heck, in my case, the Amaron distributor said there is no such model as DIN 66 in Chennai:evilsmile.Btw, I paid 6600 wihtout exchange of the old battery.

A quick question: How long does a battery manage after it started showing "Airbag failure message"?

My car's is March 2011 and the battery is completing three years next month. The airbag failure started flashing about three weeks back. Just wanna know how long will it be able to crank?
