    Tuesday 16th August 2011

Manchester City v Swansea City 01:30 (Ethiad Stadium)

Favourites for the Crown this season (In descending Order)

Disclaimer: The views posted below are my own and everybody may not agree with them. So please bear.

    * Manchester United: Defending Champs, do I need to say more?

    * Manchester City: The squad they have got by splashing the Middle-East money, who would discount them?

    * Chelsea: They showed good form at the end of next season and with the next Mourinho (Andre Villas Boas) at the helm, they will get only better.

    * Arsenal: Shaky towards the end of last season, but still are title contenders. Will get only stronger if they get Juan Mata (according to media reports).

    * Liverpool: From 13th to 6th at the end of last season, Kenny Dalglish's men are optimistic about the next season. With 6 good signings (including the ones in January), who would question their title aspirations this season?

    * Tottenham Hotspurs: They have a good team, but if they sell Luka Modric to Chelsea, their chances will be hampered.

    My prediction for this season:

Disclaimer: The views posted below are my own and everybody may not agree with them. So please bear.

    (1) Manchester City
    (2) Manchester United
    (3) Chelsea
    (4) Liverpool
    (5) Arsenal
    (6) Tottenham

@Prakhar: Only one set of fans will be rejoicing come the end of the Pool-Utd game :) Hope it is the Republic of Mancunia who's rejoicing!

We need to field a proper defence though. Tony Valencia won't do at right back again (but hearing Fabio's injured himself on international duty with Brazil). Smalling, where are thou? I do not think Fergie will start with Chicharito since he will only be back from South America on Friday morning. It should be an interesting game.

Here's the starting XI I would field if I were Kenny Dalglish-

    --------------------------Reina--------------------------------
    ----Kelly--------Carragher--------Skrtel--------Enrique---------
    ------------------Lucas--------------Adam--------------------
    -------Kuyt--------------Gerrard-------------Downing---------
    --------------------------Suarez------------------------------

Hope Suarez will tear apart Utd's defence once more :devilface

I have just looked at the last 4-5 years...the last midfielder we signed was Carrick...if I done count Zoran Tosic and Hargreaves...n carrick was signed in 2006 !!!!!

I always get neutral in this clash.

I can't see United lose, neither can i see Gerrard losing. :)

So, either of them winning is okay with me. I have the greatest respect for Gerrard.

@Prakhar: I'm sure your team is up for your game of the season. I guess apart from the two games against us, your team can probably sleep through the rest of the season. Haven't got much to do, right?

Would hate to see United drop points but then we got bigger fish to fry over the course of the season - Read "winning trophies" :)
