In the recently concluded election, Australians voted for an hung parliament as Indians did. I found that Australians also commit blunders while writing English as we Indians do. The similarities end here. In all other matters, Australia and India are poles apart.

We visited Melbourne, Great Ocean Road, Ballarat and Phillip Island in Victoria, Sydney in New South Wales and Gold Coast in Queensland.

Here are some photographs captured during our visit here.

Graffiti, a.k.a street art, is legally permitted in Melbourne, unlike Singapore, where it is a punishable offense. Here is another street art in Melbourne.

Australians love quality of life. They earn well, spend well, enjoy the life well. All the shops, malls, department stores close by 5 pm. Worse, on Sundays, many malls are open for half-day only. Only multiplexes, stand-alone restaurants and food stores like Coles, Woolworths are open until midnight/beyond midnight.

Sydney is the largest and most populous city in Australia and the state capital of New South Wales. It is also the commercial and business capital of Australia. In 2010, Sydney was ranked 10th worldwide by consulting firm Mercer for quality of living. Melbourne is the second most populous city in Australia and is ranked one of the top three world's most livable cities by the Economist Group Intelligence Unit.

In Australia, a plumber or a carpenter or an electrician earns more than a doctor or an engineer or a bureaucrat and owns and drives Audis, BMWs, which others cannot afford. Everybody works for 5 days a week and 10 months in a year. They go for exotic vacation to Europe, USA, etc.
