At the Detroit Auto Show, just concluded, FCA/marchionne announced then following all-new models, including approximate dates of launch and the plants and platforms on/at which they'll be made.

All-new Wrangler 2-door and Unlimited etc: end-2017/early-2018, Toledo Ohio, at a retooled old Jeep 'home' plant with now expanded capacity in order to meet its large hitherto unmet-due-to-capacity-constraints export/global demand. Marchionne says it's a perfect car and fully authentic to the Jeep 4x4 heritage, but without the harsh ride+low FE penalties anymore.

    All-new Wrangler-sibling lifestye 4x4-low pickup: Toledo Ohio. End-2018/2019.

Fully refreshed facelifted and upgraded Jeep Cherokee: Belvidere Michigan, moving from Toledo.

China-only long-wheelbase 7-seat Jeep Cherokee, with a chrysler softroader version for the usa built alongside the cusw Cherokee at the Belvidere plant. Both of these: end 2017/early 2018.

All-new Jeep Grand Cherokee, for 2019, to be most like built he said on the new ultra light and super stiff etc rwd Alfa 'Giorgio' platform (scalable), twinned to the Alfa Stelvio and the upcoming larger Alfa e-suv, albeit with Jeep-special 4x4 hardware and software. Jefferson, Michigan (the plant will be fully retooled and automated along the bleeding edge lines of the Giulia Alfa plant at Cassino Italy. It will be twinned to an all new Dodge Durango 7-seater (ewb), with non-jeep suspension.

All-new Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer: the return of the world's original luxury 4x4 suv-s. Identical models, with the GW being uber-luxe appointed. Body-on-Frame new RAM 1500 (2018) pickup truck chassis, with a likely (like the Fiat Ducato) a half b-o-f and half-unibody construction. Built alongside the new 2018 Ram 1500 at Warren Truck, Michigan: 2019. A major export model-twins as well.

NOTE: (a) scale efficiencies achieved via sharing across brands of 'platforms' and most 'architectural' elements (barring 4x4 hardware and software.) Sharing of engineering expertise with the Italians at Alfa/Fiat.

    (b) absolute maxing-out of usa factory capacity utilization at the upgraded usa plants. Increased export supplies and employment. ERGO: a hit with right-wing nationalist Trump and the 'left wing'/Democrat UAW trade union.

    (c) only high margin, high-usp and high-authenticity models, and that too only cuv, suv and pickups to be made in the usa, with very little outside of luxury/sports Ferraris, maseratis and Alfa-s imported into the usa by fca. FCA has stopped making any sedans whatsoever in the usa. Even one or two of the Dodge muscle-car sedans will likely be imported from Italy, built alongside the Alfa-s on the new Alfa-platform.

By doing so FCA achieves: (a) growth in sales and profitability EVEN AS/IF the usa market slows/recedes (b) lowered cost of manufacture via scale economies/sharing (eg with Alfa, dodge, Ram) and (c) manages what American automakers have historically been so dismal at: large, premium-priced and quality exports against Toyota and the German firms.

    (pls use Google Translate?)

The all-new usa-model-year 2018 Jeep Wrangler (2-door, 4 door plus a lifestyle-4x4 sports-pickup) undergoing final testing in the usa, prior to its build-date (q4 of 2017) at the home of Jeep: Toledo Ohio, where Marchionne has freed up a lot of extra capacity for the capacity-constrianed (esp for exports) Wrangler by moving (in a multi-billion $ new plant+logistics+supplier-park etc investment) the manufacture of the Jeep Cherokee to Belvedere Illinois. The Jeep Cherokee too will recieve a heavy facelift+new engines in model-year 2018, with a twinned-to-it-with-cheaper-suspension/etc 7-seater Chrysler-badged 'Dodge Journey' replacement. This last model has been low-cost-developed in China where it'll appear with Jeep styling.

The new Wrangler will see the first usa application of the Alfa Romeo Giulia+Stelvio's class-beating-by-a-distance longitudinal 2litre turbo4petrol multiair 280 hp +8-speed 'GME'. It will also witness HUGE improvements in fuel efficiency due to considerable lightening (fca's italian engineering divisions+magneti marelli etc have all the multi-materials expertise at fca, not the usa, and what expertise it is: the new Alfa-s are by a distance the lightest yet stiffest AND with-highest crash-test scores) and emissions. A mild-hybrid avatar of the new Wrangler will appear a bit later (depending on regulatory emissions-CAFE etc mandates' kick-in dates in the usa, europe and china.)

It is imo rather likely that the new Wrangler will be brought to india for ckd assembly in order to duck the currency-value problem for re-export to other large, developed rhd markets that'll buy it in numbers far higher than in India: australia, japan, uk, s africa, etc. Not before 2019?

This is a close and apparently confirmed-as-accurate render of the next all-new JEEP model: coded 'K8', a 7-seater version of the Jeep Cherokee platform (cusw), developed, engineered, tested etc in China esp for China but with usa design. For end-2017/18.

It will also, with different front and rear facia etc become by 2019 a new Chrylser-badged usa model. It will be offered also as a plug in hybrid, as will the Chrylser. The design is said by insiders to be close to and to pre-figure the design of the next-gen 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sort of a design cross between the current Grand Cherokee and the Renegade with some elements inspired by its chief rival Land/Range Rover? Looks splendid, beefy and square jawed, yet elegant somehow.

Whether this model will be exported as a Jeep to elsewhere in Asia-pac, or even to Europe or even whether rhd versions will be developed for and in India and for rhd exports is an intriguing question.

FCA/Jeep have just launched the world's most powerful, fastest, full 4x4 suv: the Jeep Grand Cherokee HELLCAT 707hp (the famed hellcat supercharged v8 engine from the Dodge Challenger and Charger, the world's most powerful mass production-model engine)

    https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/jeep-grand-cherokee-trackhawk-world’s-quickest-suv

Whether one appreciates such vehicles or not (and i certainly do NOT, personally, albeit that the sheer engineering art involved is awesome!) there's no doubt that FCA has become THE car company with the greatest commitment to PURE, AUTHENTIC-to-brand-and-history, form-matches-content-and-vice-versa models, and that too right across all the brands, all price points and all segments: from the Fiat 500 and Abarth 500 to Dodge american muscle cars, now the new bleeding edge Alfa Romeo-s, Maserati+Ferrari, Jeep and Ram.

In ever more specific cases (such as this one) FCA brand and sub-brand models display segment and industry-leading engineering, esp wrt engines, chassis and suspension engineering and 5-star euroNCAP safety too. As well as 'authentic' (american or italian) styling/design. And what is more, with more affordable pricing (other than the very aristocratic Ferrari, which has no competition as such) than competitor firms esp the German ones.

This is signature marchionne who absolutely dislikes, if he has an economic choice, any investments in any brand, sub-brand or individual nameplate/model that does not have high-usp, high-brand-'authenticity' and/or 'heritage value', that is NOT commoditized and therefore easily substitutable by a model from just about any other firm/brand. THAT is why fca is actively pursuing not just a multi-brand approach, but a focussed multi-sub-brand one as well, completely avoiding the German template of any and every body type, performance, and size variations of the SAME design and engineering etc.

FCA, which had for financial reasons to do with the usa-acquisition/merger of FIAT Group with Chrysler Corp and the later serious political-economic crisis in the Eurozone, esp in S Europe, delayed the development and/or launch of so many models for several brands continues its more-recent all-new model launch offensive, this time with a china-only model, that too a plug-in hybrid (option) to follow up on fca's first and acclaimed since launch phev model in the usa, the Chrysler Pacifica phev. The new JEEP, a 7-seater, is the latter's platform and hybrid-tech (proprietary to fca+MagnetiMarelli) close-sibling, and will appear in the usa not as a Jeep but as a plush and techy Chrysler cuv, also with phev option.

    https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/jeep-readies-yuntu-concept-for-shanghai-motor-show/

JEEP china has released teaser sketches of the new, 7-seat JEEP Yuntu or Commander, a model that will also be offered as a plug-in hybrid. It is built on the cusw 'platform', in particular with the architecture of the Chrysler Pacifica phev. A reskinned-as-Chrysler version of this China developed/tested/validated etc model, which will be shown at the Shanghai autoshow on april 18 2017, will be made alongside the re-styled semi-all-new Jeep Cherokee (2018) to be built at the Belvidere usa plant. The Chrysler will be fca's replacement for the Dodge Journey aka FIAT Freemont.

An insider at fca italy reveals on allpar.com usa that fca china will also in 2018 offer, as a chinese new regulatory compliance vehicle: a zero-emmissions pure EV Jeep Renegade, a model that will also be made in europe and in brazil when emmissions and cafe etc rules and taxation changes etc kick-in there too, namely around 2020.

imo the Yuntu/Commander, a competitor in China to models like the Audi q7, the Toyota Highlander, LandRover Discovery, VW Terramont/Atlas etc would make for a brilliant export model to the rest of Asia too, and esp also if exported to Europe (whether from the usa or from China.)

There WILL also be a hybrid all-new JEEP Wrangler (with e-rear-axle, for eg) maybe 2 one mild one full, although perhaps not at launch itself (end-2017/early 2018.) The hybrid all-new 2018 Wrangler model(s) are already ready and developed. Apparently, then, market demand and margins etc considerations will dictate the timing of their actual launch.

The YUNTU or Commander 7-seat plug-in hybrid for China-only (for now). Launches in 2018.

Very IT-techy, based heavily on the electronics and telematics used by FCA on the Chrysler Pacifica (phev) and esp as displayed on the Chrysler Portal concept vehicle shown recently, which last was also shown at the Shanghai autoshow right alongside it.

The YUNTU will, in reskinned form, appear in the usa as the next-gen Dodge Journey (phev) but styled and badged a Chrysler, a cuv complement to the Chrysler Pacifica (phev) minivan.

A video of the all-new Wrangler and at the end also of the all-new Wrangler lifestyle 4x4 pickup undergoing late testing, for a late-2017 beginning of usa manufacturing at Toledo, Ohio, the historic 'home' of JEEP.

The new Wrangler could/likely-will be ckd-assembled in India, largely for rhd re-exports to Australia, japan and the UK, S Africa, Malaysia, Thailand: by end-2018/2019.

The upcoming very soon ALL NEW Jeep Wrangler 2-door and 4-door models have been 'exposed'/leaked. It will have all the hardcore off road capability of the current one (if not more) BUT will be lighter, more aerodynamic, with an 8-speed transmission, safer and more fuel efficient as well as comfy on-road, much more electronic tech-laden and with the new turbocharged i4 petrol engine from the Alfa romeo Giulia+Stelvio, as well as an fpt/vm motori diesel.

To be only usa-made BUT with all-new facory capacity just added now (for the first time ever) with large-and-growing export supply to the rest-of-the-world made-in-Toledo-Ohio, the 'home' of Jeep historically.
