Guys, check this out!!! The all new hyundai SONATA! The 'fluidic' design is so prominent in Sonata than in Verna! I personally hated the looks of the Fluidic Verna, but now, the looks of this Sonata is awesome! And it has mouth watering never ending features. And not just that, now this has a real heart, a 2.4l 200hp Gasoline Direct Injection! Am not sure whether 2.2 Crdi will be launched along with 2.4GDI here in India; But expect the 2.2 Crdi to be plonked pretty soon!

    Check out here! http://www.hyundai.com/in/en/Showroom/Flash/SRFOVERVIEW/DF_IN_SR_HE_091212131302.html

Not just that, Sonata engineers decided that instead of creating a 4-cylinder and a 6-cylinder option like the competition, they would simply get more power out of a better, fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engine. The result is two of the most revolutionary engines! One is the 2.4GDI, and vola, the 2.0 Turbocharged engine!

This 2.0l engine is a 'four cylinder' twin scroll turbo, that pumps out 274hp and 253 Nm torque which is more than the V6 engines in Camry and Accord! And the fuel efficiency is expected to be between 12 and 15 kmpl, which is again more than the V6! Now that's just awesome, for this monster engine!:up Wish the 2.0T makes its way to India soon! :)

And don't expect the sheet-like build quality in this! Sonata 2012 has already received 5 star crash test rating and has earned the 2012 IIHS Top Safety Award!!!

Now am eagerly waiting for this to hit the Indian roads!

Engine is surely muscle man may be we can call it as superstar(still doubt his potential as a actor). But who is the director? Did he produce anything original in past ? Anything which had art in it? Anything which had life and entertainment in it? Better for him to go for HD mega serials for which he is good. People who have no other work will see it and luckily we have plenty of them.

The 2.0T's power output is surely impressive, on paper. It's even more powerful than the highly acclaimed BMW 2.0 Turbopetrol of the new x28i series.

I think the torque figure would be 365Nm.

Let's see what the reviews say on it's driveability. Hyundai is taking the right steps indeed.

All manufacturers are going maniacs over Turbo petrols & flashes higher & higher specific outputs on almost daily basis. Audi TT held a world record for specific op/ltr till 2009. It was broken by FIAT's 1.7 tbi with 135 bhp/ltr (238 hp, 350 NM) in Alfa romeo Giulietta in 2010.

Now a days almost everyone is coming up with such figures more like routines. GM is introducing their 2 ltr/280 BHP (derived from OPEL Europe) in Cadillac CTS this Year. FIAT is coming up with another upgrade of 1.7 tbi with more than 300 HP by the year end & will put that in Alfa 4C for US debut. That's the specific o/p of 176 HP/ltr:shock:.

While they are increasing the specific o/ps like maniacs, they are also ensuring that it gains equal advances in FE as well. Sure we are approaching a time ahead where B-C segment cars will be limited to 500-600 cc turbo petrol/diesel with no shortage of power.

Well, Hyundai is causing a few worries for Toyota which is still debatable but they are digging grave for Honda pretty soon in the future, for sure & no debates required. For designing aspects of fluidic sculpture, no credit should be help back to Hyundai but one should also notice that their designing team is full of Italians & Germans now. Their designing head is Chris Chapman, the ex. godfather of BMW designs. Pinnifarina spa is occupied with Hyundai's projects & Korean prime minister has just awarded the most prestigious award of Korea to "Georgette Giugario" for his contributions to Korea's economy (what contributions can a vehicle designer make to country's economy??). Still, good going Hyundai..!!

But how about Ferrari's naturally aspirated 128bhp/ltr specific o/p in 458 Italia with a service interval of 20000 Kms:rolleyes:. No turbo's, just a pure petrol head, i hope someone will comment on this feat too.

Nowadays All companies are trying to bring out the whole power from small mill like FIAT have done in most of car
So a Company in high investment in R&d will in turn yield high production output @low cost due to the less raw materials used for buiding small engine , also mileage

Just two versions for now, with the 2.4GDI. MT and AT with paddle shifters! And it comes with dual zone FATC which enables the left and right occupants to have different temperature settings.

A few Pics of the 2012 Sonata!

    From the Indian Website

A 'sensible' Fluidic design, far far better than the Fluidic Verna!!! :)

    Yes indeed!!!

Nope! Its 250Nm for the 2.4 GDI. And yeah, hyundai cars are not well known for their driveabilty, lets see how this goes! But i still wonder how it's going to survive without a diesel mill here in India!

Things sure look good on paper, but one thing that I've learnt is that engine is just the beginning of a great car.

Hyundai management team is excellent. Also they are hardworking. What they need is they should collaborate with some European car makers and get some major genetic modification to their cars. Once their cars get life they will not be that bad.
