    Hi,

In Mid May this year did a long trip of 5k.
    My route was
    1st day (bangalore-mumbai)
    ---------stay-------
    3rd day (mumbai-ghandinagar-ahmedbad)
    4rd day (ahmedbad-khedbrahma)
    ---------stay-------
    7th day (khedbrahma-jetalpur-dhabhan-vartal-mahalav-ahmedbad
    8th day (limbdi-rajkot-gondal-gadhada-sarangpur-bochasan-surat)
    9th day (surut-thithal-mumbai)
    ---------stay-------
    11th day(mumbai- bangalore)

    Before Journey begin
General Check up of car: brake oil, engine oil, spare tyre check up, lights reset trips, Proper Door lock of house, water tap OFF, gas Off etc
Identify Road Route, few famous hotels (for rest, food etc)

    Thinks to consider.
    Extra Car Key,
    Bottle with water,
    Copy of Car Papers,
    Copy of PUC,
    Copy of Insurance,
Contact no of fiat service centres
    Car Owner booklet
Map or GPS on mobile or GPRS,
    Snacks.

Hope these will answer most of your question.

That's a huge trip! Did you drive single handedly?

Nonetheless your post gave me much needed confidence. I am excited and know this is going to be both fun and pain!

Recently my bro had a single handed drive
    the journey was from
MIRAJ to SHIRDI (near abt 400 KMS) with one day halt
    SHIRDI to SHINGNAPUR(30 KMS)
SHIRDI to HYDERABAD (500 KMS) one day halt
    HYDERABAD to MIRAJ (513 KMS)

after overall trip my bro was impressed with comfort and drive with punto... especially the steering control.... superb .....

so next will be my trip of more than 1500 KMS :) eagerly waiting for it...

    Guys!

Finally I am back from my vacation and did a total of 2200 kms on my GP!!! I must say, the more I drive this car the more I fall in love with it. Throughout the drive the car didn't even complain once. From smooth highways to rough terrains to 40% immersing it in flood water, it took everything with ease.

The journey was economical too. My car consistentily gave 21-22 kmpl on smooth highways and 15-18 kmpl on streets. All in all 2200 kms drive sucked 103 litres of diesel (roughly).

The journey one way was 950 kms and was little tiring as I was driving alone. It took me 16 hours to reach to destination and was consistenly driving between 80-110 kmph. It was mainly on NH-8 and NH-8A highways and was real fun to drive. I took just one break at Ahmedabad for having lunch for an hour.

The highways in Gujarat are fantastic however the tolls booths kills. They are real expensive. The one on Vadodara to Ahmedabad Expressway costs around 70 bucks but all worth for excellent roads.

One thing to mention over here is that 16 hours of continous drive sprained my knees and ankles of right leg extravagently. Was missing cruise control!!! Apart from that all is well!

And lastly not forgetting to thank all of you fellow members to give me encouragement to take up such adventure!!!

    Thanks!

    Samir
