    Ramesh,
I am also having the same setup that gurji paaji mentioned

exide --> IT500 -- 13500 Rs , If you can get EL130 -- 13646 Rs then that is the best option in exide .These are industrial bateries and little difficult to get now :)

    ups > whirlpool 850 amp 5500 Rs

    The cost is of 2011

I dont think that you can switch on TV .It will be over load . But if TV is running and power goes at that time then no issues . :) I have watched TV many times lke this ..

The above setups is well adequate for a house .

I've a plasma and it works fine. I've even watched movies for close to two hours. It all depends on the VA and the battery AH.

IMHO unless there is an absolute necessary please do not install inverters. Reason for this is for every one unit of electricity that is consumed on battery, will consume two units of electricity from supply, because of losses in inverter, battery (~50% efficient). This not only increases electricity bill, but also increases peak demand on the system (electrical) which leads to low voltages and low power quality. Statistics for last few years show increase in electrical energy consumption, in spite increase in the power cuts. This is out off topic, but should help in consumer conscious for protecting MOTHER NATURE.
