    From what I have read the Abarth Punto has the 90 HP all black interiors with some finer touches here and there. Dont think it has the touchscreen :rolleyes:

    But this car already has a lot of credibility, let alone those features, it has the engine that only some D1 segment cars can match. Also, the target audience for this car is quite niche, who technically should not look for the Hyundaistic features, but look for power, tyres, alloys, suspension, handling etc.

    IMO the only thing that requires an upgrade is the gearbox, specially when I think of the target audience.

    Also, people would compare this with the other so-called hot hatch, yes you guessed it right, the GT. But I guess GT has multiple segments to cater to, thanks to the auto box, which becomes very handy for the new drivers as well. But, Abarth Punto would only cater to people who demand power in a rigid shell that can handle that kind of power!!

    Yeah, the VW GT-s, not even the diesel let alone the petrol, is not in same league as the Abarth Punto: tyres, brakes, chassis, steering, suspension, finery/livery/detailing etc. Let alone engine.

    As usual, and as with the 595 v/s Mini/a-classe v/s 1-series, there also is a difference of 'authenticity' as well, if not of outright 'feku'-ry v/s honesty-to-brand/image-and-to-promise.

    There is no question in my mind that this car has all that makes a Fiat car great to drive ALONG with a powerful engine that is fit for this car's chassis. The gearbox was always a grey area as some people liked it and some people didn't. I found it rubbery but perfectly fine. It never missed.

    The GT does have the advantage of catering to new drivers like a I saw today. A lady driver most probably around 30, crawling on the left of the road with her head craned forward, all scared as she drove a GT TSI. But the major point is that the Abarth Punto being a manual, will have far cheaper parts than the finicky DSG. A DSG repair goes upto 1.5 lakhs. For that price, you can practically overhaul the Abarth with new components. And people were always complaining that the TSI came with only auto and that the enthusiasts wanted an MT. Well, here it is finally in the Abarth. So there's really nothing going against the Abarth at all. I hope they plonk in a 6 speed gearbox because for 145 bhp, a 5 speed may not be enough. But there is no doubt that the chassis can easily take that kind of power. And with an ECU remap, who knows? 170 bhp? That's Ford Escort ST territory! I have to TD the Abarth as soon as possible.

    @Deepak

    Abarth-s are turbopetrols only, so no, one wouldn't think so. But I suppose if they de-emphasize rather than eliminate the Abarth badging and aesthetic elements (as they'll apparently be doing on the Avventura t-jet), and offer a very similar up-tuned/re-mapped diesel, it'd be theoretically possible?

    Problem is: cannibalization of sales. One does hope the Abarth t-jet Punto Evo does not cannibalize mjd Evo and Linea sales!:eek:

    Not quite sure what is left of the Linea, especially TJet to be Cannibalized :banghead:. Guess Lines TJet will always remain an enigma, which only a few owners enjoyed, and majority of general public did not understand what was on offer at that price point.

    Yes, Pricing is the key here, else Avvy and Punto Evo can be easily cannibalized. This is where the salesmen need to play a role and convince exactly what these vehicles stand for and how each one has a different proposition to offer.

    Proud to own a fiat car. When everyother manufacturer thinks about how to make profit by reducing power. By giving skinny tyres. By having very thin metal sheet. By having video game steering. Fiat is only consistent on delivering an experience for enthusiasts. Great.

    Was having Punto90hp
    Now having Linea MJD
    Will surely have Fiat as my next car as well.
    Can't depart from fiat.
