@dadasaheb well, who knows, maybe that too was why Nagesh got the sack (if indeed he did)?

I think, to be fair, many recent new models from even the likes of Maruti and Honda have been plagued by serious issues and recalls, while the common Fiat QC issues are pretty minor in comparison (wheel alignment off, Blue&Me earthing). But yeah: they're still not running a totally tight ship! Is it an HR thing, i wonder, are the salaries they offer not good enough?

It will, if it will, be available only after the budget: rumours are rife among business journalists of major customs duty changes for imported cars and kits (under Japanese, American and EU pressure), and the big one (which affects imported/ckd cars too, indirectly) new GST-like, much lower excise duty rates on cars. The GST should be here next year, with any luck?

I'm sure it will be available sometime. Since the first post in this thread is a year old... SOON... isn't what comes to mind when reading the thread :)

Was browsing the Fiat India website and esp on the Abarth page, saw that the car will be sold only through exclusive dealers which are 4 as of now. Surprisingly Mumbai has been left out from the list understandably since the metro does not have one decent Fiat dealer. Even more surprisingly Pandit Auto has been left out too for selling the Abarth.

Curious to know the prices for eligibility to dream. Anyway it is not attractive as punto or avvy.
Punto Abarth 135 ps is my choice any day.( Again, not to be launched any time soon ).

Leaving Mumbai out is a bit of a shocker, given that they're working on the premise that this, a mainly brand-building car, will see demand only in the 'metro-s'. Also: the lines between 'metro'/'cosmo' city and otherwise have blurred ever so much mowadays, no FCA? It would be ill-advised to leave the likes of Kochi, Pune and Ahmedabad out. Perhaps, a bit further down the line?

FCA would be well-advised giving this car and thereby the Fiat/Abarth brand a big marketing push: at least on social media, via mags and auto websites, and as a sponsor to certain select 'elite' off-line events, such as concerts or celebrity-full awards shows, etc.

It may not be meant for meaningfully large sales numbers, but at least ensure it does its job of brand-promotion! Unlike with the Mini, it may not be able get talked about too much just on its own, and even Mini does, and has had to, lots of selective, specialist advertising.

@prabhjot and price it right. I would suggest as low as they possibly can without going into a loss. They do not have the brand name of a Mini Cooper or Beetle in India and would initially need something in their favor so that people start driving the car.

Once we have a few in the road and the reputation spreads then they can hike the rates :)
