One of the most beautiful places in bengal is the jungle region in the districts of PASCHIM MEDINIPUR,BANKURA & PURULIA.Though I planned this tour few years back the could not materialised due to increase in maoist activity in that region. But now the region has become relatively peaceful and I decided to take a short trip.

This region is famous/infamous for few things----

    1)COLOUR OF THE SOIL
    2)SAL FOREST
    3)TRIBAL PEOPLE
    4)COCK FIGHT
    5)POVERTY

---the above mentioned are some of those things.
Had to go alone(with wife & son) because the other friend of mine cancelled due to fever of his son.

    DAY ONE10/12/12:-

    ROUTE:

HALDIA--MECHEDA--KHARAGPUR JN.--LODHASULI--JHARGRAM & then sight seeing in & around JHARGRAM.

    DISTANCE COVERED--235.3 KM
    AVG. CONSUMP.--20.8 KMPL
    TRAVEL TIME--5.26HRS
    AVG SPEED--43 KMPH

Stayed at the RAJBARI(MALLADEB RESORTS) at JHARGRAM.

    THE ROUTE OF OUTWARD JOURNEY--

Those monkeys may be wondering, who's this man roaming around with an italian girl :)

Nice pictures Sandipan, they remind me of the village roads in Kerala, they look very similar, even the greenery. Looks like the common things between Kerala and WB are not just fish and communism, even nature seems to be similar!

I really fell in love with KERALA when I visited a few years back.I am a regular viewer of malayalam films on ASIANET. PRITHVIRAJ & MEERA JASMINE are my favourites.

Nice trip there. The place seems to be very peaceful and natural with less travellers.
Is it a lesser known or lesser travelled place?

Yes RAJ, it is one of the less travelled(not lesser known) areas as of now.It was not so peaceful due to the maoist trouble that zone suffered sometime back. There are CRPF personels(in plenty) patrolling areas on bike with INSAS rifle hanging from there shoulder.
