Apart from the looks department (comparing to the old Linea and not the new FL one), Fiesta is a fine contender or alternative to Linea aswell, given its excellent steering, handling, lag free performance, FE and equipment levels.

Except space maybe were Linea could beat Fiesta. About FE, we will need to see the real world FE figures from customers as the cars propogate the markets.

Agree. I would never go along with ARAI ratings for any car, but real time FE shouldn't be that bad IMHO. Rear bench space is one of the drawbacks in Fiesta, but would be more than enough for a family of 4. However, Linea too, isn't very famous for its rear bench space.

Linea and Fiesta would compete with each other, neck to neck from a driving enthusiast's perspective though.

Would this new Fiesta affect the Linea Classic plus sales? Since the pricing is almost equivalent to Classic Plus. IMO even the New Linea will be affected to a certain extent. But I have seen in the past Fiat and Ford buyers are generally the enthusiasts buyers who know the product well before buying them. Not herd mentatlity like Maruti's, Hyundai's and Honda's buyers.

When did Linea Classic sell to get affected by the new Fiesta? :D

As you pointed rightly, people who wanted to buy Fiat will buy it anyway. If marketed well, they can dent the sales of Honda city to some extent. :)

At the risk of alienated looks from onlookers and herd mentality buyers for going against the flow. Outcasts if you will ::D

If you see the cars that are going to be unleashed by Maruti , it will be tough for the europeans in India. The marutian was basically forced to jump to the european cars as maruti didnt have any offering in those classes. Now they have those covered with the impending launches of XA Alpha, Premium, Ciaz, and S cross.

Yes, more appropriately if only they manage sales to aquire the market space fully that is already there for these cars. I see more Puntos and Lineas each passing day in Mumbai, hope they can cope up with service support.

We will have to wait and see if Maruti is able to succeed in the class above Dezire. Maruti did make many attempts (Baleno, SX4, Kizashi, Grand Vitara) in the past but only to fail.

Premiumness and Maruti don't gel together still. :)

The Marutian's first choice of a trust-worthy and classy car is the Honda. It enjoys more trust than the Toyota even today. Every automobile player has their eyes set on Maruti. I wonder if VW would contemplate buying out Maruti too one day or should the honour go to a Japanese giant.

Yes the Indian does not take it kindly that Maruti's spares are expensive for these class of vehicles. :D Breaking the stereotype of owning a Maruti is a problem.

Ford tunes them always to be peppy. I don't think this time it could be any different. That should tilt the balance a bit towards Fiesta for a metro or city driver's choice.
