  1. This is my travelogue from chandigarh to jim corbett national park in my FIAT LINEA MJD Em Pk

First some general information about corbett national park

Corbett National Park is one of India's most beautiful wildlife areas has a tiger population of around 164 currently, which makes this park as the last and the most important bastion of this endangered species in India. The present area of the Reserve is 1,318.54 square kilometres (our guide told, its enough to accomodate 2 Delhi cities) :wow
Tourism activity is only allowed in selected areas of Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get an opportunity to see its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife. In recent years the number of people coming here has increased dramatically. Presently, every season more than 70,000 visitors come to the park from India and other countries. :clap

Enough of gyan.... Few teasers befor the travel begins ::O

  2. We had already made the reservation at club mahindra safari resort so that was not an issue.

We were unsure about the total time it ll take for us to reach there so decided to leave as early as we can on 21 st morning. So packed all the stuff the day before and finally left at 6.10 AM. But as fate would have it, after driving for about 5 kms, suddenly i noticed that we had left the most imp thing at home, THE RESERVATION SLIP  so had to go back to pick it up. And finally when we restarted our journey, it was 6.30 AM

    The route we followed was PANCHKULA---> NAHAN---> PONTA SAHAB---> DEHRADUN---> HARIDWAR---> NAJIBABAD---> KASHIPUR--->RAMNAGAR---> DHIKULI

The road from panchkula to ponta sahab was a mixed bag. The 1st half was good and the 2 nd half was awful.. There were pot holes, speed breakers where there should ve been none :A (ACTUALLY SUSPENSION BREAKERS S A BETER TERM). It was only our linea that saved us from all the jhatkas :dance

We reached dehradun at 10.30 AM, filled the diesel again there and got the air pressure checked again
Next destination was haridwar which we reached in another hour. Thought of taking a stop there for sometime but then decided against it as we wanted to reach as early as possible so continued our journey nonstop. W e had enough material with us to keep our hunger and thirst at bay :)
Haridwar to najibabad was another 55 kms and the road was fine if not great as the traffic was very minimal. Saw some things in najibabad which i had not seen in a long time i.e BULLOCK CARTS, LONG AUTOS (we used to call them BHOOND. how and where this term originated, i have no idea ::V )

Following is a pic of BHOOND

::T Waiting to hear more from you dude, Happy motoring
  4. And we were in for a not so pleasant surprise here..
Acc to my map, distance from najibabad to kashipur was about 65 kms, but the milestone showed 110 kms
THat meant about an hour of extra drive :uh
Anyways. it couldnt be helped so we carried on and reached kashipur at around 2.30 PM . The road was beautiful with very little traffic and so was the road from kashipur to ramnagar and dhikuli. :dancing

    Some pics of that

::T Good shoots dude, give us the review on the great Linea now
  9. i ve already posted my review in the review section but to sum it up:
During the whole trip, there was not a single moment when i felt tired, had backache or stiffness, although i drove continously nonstop for 9 hrs.
The roads in b/w were atrocious to say the least but the car did a wonderful work of absorbing the potholes and the suspension breakers.. The drive was as smooth as it can get,
The mileage for the whole trip was as follows:
    Total distance: 1096 kms
    FE: 19.7 km/l
    Av speed: 59 km/hr
  10. We booked the safari for the 2nd day at 2 PM and had to share our jeep with another family.. Total cost was Rs 3600 so 1800 for us ::D

Were ready at 1.45 PM and left for the safari at 2 Pm exact. Reached the 1st check point in 20 min
