As i couldn't get my punto checked on the Free Service camp 25th, i visited Vecto Motors yesterday and got few of the issues like wind screen washer pipe was broken it was fixed,Water spray canal was adjusted, speaker mount on left door was loose, both front door rubber holding the glass would fold when glass was operated up and down this was fixed, purchased sun visor (left) and a litre of selenia for my trips.. overall it was good experience at Vecto,.

@redbull , you're fortunate to have got some discount. I didn't get any discount for the very well known quality problems with elastic pads inspite of escalating when my car was at 38K. I'm yet to experience FIATs kindness , generosity and goodwill.

@surya , how much were the labor charges for getting all these things sorted out at Vecto ?

Continuing my story of clutch kit replacement at Vecto which have been chronicled in the posts below:

I went to Vecto workshop last Wednesday (Jan 22), where they acknowledged there was a problem. A "kat kat" noise was coming from below the chassis while doing steering lock to lock turns at slow speed. I was told that they need to oil the front struts and may be even replace the strut mounting pads. These would be covered under extended warranty. But immediately they added their standard rant "The job will take four hours to take it apart and four more to fix the things back in, so please take an appointment." I fixed appointment a week later on next Wednesday (Jan 29). While I was calling the customer service for the appointment, Mr. Sharma was dealing with other customers over the phone telling them all their drivers are unavailable for the pick up and drop facility. I flatly told Mr. Sharma I did not have any further patience for driving to their workshop (and the subsequent hunting for some transportation back). To this he assured me that he would arrange a "special" driver to pick up and drop my car.

On 28th, I get a confirmation call from the customer service and they start with telling me the week old story about unavailability of the pick up and drop service. I told them I was promised by Sharma for the pick up. So I call up Sharma and he again assures me he will arrange for the pick up the next day. Okay, so in a few hours time I get this call from the guy who is supposed to pick up the car. As usual he can only converse in the local tongue. He manages to make me understand what he wants with two words "message address." Also tells me "8:30 - 9". The next day he arrives at the apartment gates sharp 9 o clock (not like the last time when I had to pick up the driver 2.5 kms from the main road). Okay he is the same guy who fixed the reverse parking sensor outside my office after it was goofed up while replacing the clutch. I show him the problem and he acknowledges.

For a few hours I don't get any call. Usually an SA is assigned and calls up. So I call Sharma and he says he is personally looking up the case. By afternoon Sharma calls and tells me the strut pads have been replaced and he will take a test drive. At 6 o clock I get another call from Sharma that the sound is still there and they will check the steering rack. Next day after a few phone exchanges Sharma finally tells me they have replaced the entire steering rack and now the noise is gone. I ask him when I'll get the car back and tells me that Nagraj (pick up person) was preoccupied in some other work and by evening I should get the car back. Okay, there was no sign of the car nor any call by late evening and I did not bother to check back as by now I was resigned to the fact that I was not going to get the car back that day. Today morning I call up Sharma and he tells me he is waiting for the extended warranty approval. His exact words were, "As you know Sir, the steering rack is an expensive part, we need approval." As soon as he gets it, he will send my car. When I heard him say "need approval", I told him flatly, "I can't pay that kind of money out of my pocket so better get that approval." Of course, they did not check with me before replacing anything and by his tone he was sounding fairly confident of the extended warranty. By late afternoon, I get a call that the extended warranty is approved.

The total bill was 25570/- out of which 24990/- was covered under extended warranty and I had to pay 580 bucks - around 400 for wheel alignment and 180 for some "cover" ? What "cover"? God knows what, I did not bother to ask.

So Nagraj comes with the car at 6 pm. He shows me the left strut which was replaced. Now I remember when I gave my car for the 4th paid service two months back, the SA had told me that the left strut needs to be replaced. Of course nothing of the extended warranty was mentioned and I declined. In retrospect, I find my declining any sort of extra work has served me well. I got a 50% discount on the clutch kit part and the left strut, part and labour, was completely covered under extended warranty. I see the bill and was pleasantly surprised that they did not charge me for the pick up and the drop. So I give Nagraj some tip on my own for not whining :) He came via the NICE road, "car pickup suuuper, saar !!" I was all smiles and thinking, "Yes, of course !!!!!" He tells me to save his mobile number. He has more than 10 years experience, not like the rest of them, the 2 month old technicians :) I can call him for any problem "24 hours" !!! :p

    Parts changed under extended warranty:
    1. Elastic pads * 2 = 2980/-
    2. Front Left Strut = 2668/-
    3. Power Steeing = 18109/-

And a few sundry labour charges that I can't make sense of but all covered under extended warranty. What I find puzzling is that the clutch replacement labour was above 2800/- and in this bill there is no mention of the steering rack replacement labour. The only labour charge related to steering is "Power Steering Oil Leakage" of 435/-. Infact the total labour charge for the strut pads, FLHS Strut and the power steering is 1890+ST, there is also some 440/- discount on labour. That's why I was saying all these labour charges don't make any sense. Anyway I am compelled to change my view on extended warranty being worthless. Seems, after all, it does have value.

This time it seems finally they did not add any more problems, touch wood !! Of course, the faint rattling from the AC while accelerating is still there. Nagraj tells me it is "Normal". Oh well ....
  4. hello friends!!!
i got my punto serviced at vecto motors on 11th of this month and thought of writing about my experience.
my car had clocked 4700 kms in 5 something months and so decided to get the first free service done. i called the service centre on 6th of this month and the executive at the desk told me hat 11th was available and so i booked my service appointment. the lady said she would confirm the appointment later and hung up.. she called me on 10th monday and said that the appoinment was confirmed and i could bring in the car on 11th b/w 9-10 am.
i reached the FASS at 9.40 am and already about 3 people were waiting for their cars to be serviced. reading about the past experience of my fellow TFIians, i thought my wait aould be very long...... but to my pleasant surprise, the lady at the reception asked me to wait in the waiting bay for 10 minutes.. in exactly 5 minutes time, the SA, Mr. Mithun Raj came and spoke to me....he took down my details and asked me for any problems...
i had a few of them namely
    1. the rubber bushes(stoppers) on the side doors were missing and the SA said that the parts were unavailable and also informed me that they had already placed an order and it was yet to be delivered
    2. The plastic stoppers on the back door also had fallen off and the same reason was given by SA
I told Mr Mithun that I had about 2 hours time and if the service could done by then. he was very courteous and told me that the vehicle would be given to me in exactly 2.5 hours.
In less than 2.5 hours, my vehicle was serviced and given to me.. my experience was very good at Vecto this time unlike when i went to buy the car...
I would rate a 5 on 5 for this and hope that this experience would last for the next sevices as well.

    regards
    nithin

Last time when I visited Vecto motors, I had to fight with everyone to get my audio system replaced under warranty.

I think they still use old Prerna for paint job.
But they were in process to open a new and dedicated one near electronic city (or bommasandra), not sure if that is functional or not.
