@Driv3r - you are wasting your time buddy. For those who believe, no explanation is necessary; for those who don't, none possible.

My experience with Prerana (Never been there after they started Vecto) has been good in terms of the way I was treated and average in terms of the way my car was treated. Never been to KHT after I got the Jet. But my experience with KHT when I had my Palio has been not so pleasant. Aadya, Greentracks, Concorde, Manipal - you name it, I have been there and none of them demonstrated a pride in what they were doing. The way they handle our cars is shoddy at best and atrocious at worst. I trust private garages more than FASS.

Here is my take - If the period of warranty that a manufacturer offers demonstrates their faith in their product, I am willing to go one step more on that. I have so much faith in the quality of the product, that I am willing to forego my warranty. My car is exactly one year old today and is still under manufacturer's warranty. Call me stupid, but I would rather pay from my pocket and go to a private professional, than make a warranty claim and allow these jokers to introduce new problems.

PS: Ravi - Sorry. You posted while I was typing mine. Please feel free to delete, if you feel it is OT

Last week, i had gone to replace my Left lower arm at Vecto. It had got some cut/bend and was identified during my 3rd service after complaining about sound from suspension. Since they didnt have stock during 3rd service, they had asked me to come later. So went ahead last week and changed it. They have replaced (not under warranty as it is not manufacturing defect) and had charged me Rs.600/- as labour for this job + some 1.7k for the part. Just wanted to know, whether Rs.600/- labour charges is correct for changing lower swing arm.

Also their billing section is good for nothing. I was behind them from 2:30pm to get the billing done and due to some system issue, they gave me hand written bill and asked to collect invoice later. And while handing over my debit card for payment, they told even that machine is not working. I had to run to near by ATM to pay these guys. Why can't they have systems which run atleast during their working hours??

Now does the labor charge seem reasonable?

Adding one more reference from tbhp where someone feels he is over charged in vecto Not sure if that charge is also correct. But just providing an reference, since after reading his plight, i thought may be they over charged me as well.

Is there a regulation chart from Fiat for the amount of labour FASS can charge for each and every task? I have seen 2 wheeler workshops having it, Fiat should definitely have something like that. Probably you can write to service.india and check with them.

No idea about labout charge on swing arm replacement, labor charge is always debatable topic.
Same happened few months back with me, I thought this might have been corrected now, but seems the problem persists.

Though not a good idea to comment on someone's else question on labor charge, but I feel 850 for service charge (once a year) is perfectly fine.

This is a good idea. Let's also know if you get something.

I paid 500/- labor for changing the front 2 wipers , the rear wiper arm , and the CSC piston rod.

On another visit, paid 250/- labor for changing the battery earthing cable ( the cable connecting the -ve terminal to the engine ).

Both these were at KHT in the last 3 weeks - they mentioned some "open flat" rate on the bill.

I did feel the labor was on the higher side ; but not exorbitant given inflationary trends in recent times. About a year ago, I enquired with TASS the labor rates on changing the front strut mounts, and they quoted 325/- + tax for each side, with me supplying the parts. I finally got it done outside with 400/- a side from a local garage . So I paid more outside but I had more confidence in the local garage than TASS. FASS does have volumes, so in a way that can offset their costs that a private garage owner cannot.

I think 850/- for changing oil + filter is again on the higher side. How much would a private garage charge in Bangalore ?

Another problem I see is the wide scale differences in labor rates between cities. Changing the timing chain costs 5.5K in Bangalore in terms of labor, and almost half in Chennai . When I asked Shivram in KHT he didn't have an explanation , he said that's the rate in Bangalore.

Skoda has gone the extra mile to make spares cost and labor available online ; perhaps FIAT also needs to do something similar.

I have 2 specific issues with Vecto -
1 -> They treat Palio owners like second class citizens. I have witnessed this first hand.
2 -> They work on booking concept. I dont have any issues with booking concept. But you have normal services and emergencies. They do not seem to distinguish between the two for normal customers. Its like a hospital just having an in patient department and no out patient department.
I have been there 2-3 times to get issues sorted. Both times, I was told to book an appointment and come.
I will take a step back and compare this with MASS, since I happen to own a Maruti car as well. Suraksha at bommanahalli probably handles 3-4X the volume that Vecto handles. Yet, they have capacity to take in emergency request. They work like a perfectly oiled machinery. This is completely missing with Vecto even when it was Prerana.

There is no generalized rate chart from FIAT as such. There are two dealers in Chennai, and one of them charges the right price, while the other well, you get the idea. :)

We, the customers should voice this concern to FIAT.

Talking of booking concept - Vecto serviced a car and delivered it, but introduced two new issues. The owner noticed them and sent the car back with his driver to get them fixed. They told him - no booking, no service. Make a booking and come back.

Ever heard anyone asking you to make a booking to correct their mistakes? :A :A

This is something. Heck, these guys want a booking for a breakdown/stranded/accident car as well!
