Not only that. That person was very rude. :(
Tried. At least here, the staff was courteous, checked and informed that the timing belt was out of stock and expected by the next week. I called Ramkay FIAT, Chennai. While auxiliary/accessory drive belts are available, timing belt is not. They have ordered and I would be informed as soon as it is received.

What? Shivaram confirmed yesterday that timing belt is in stock and I have left my car for service today. Even Kuldeep, the SA says the part is in stock.

last year when i had gone there to get C-pillar plastic trim for my punto, i was treated in a similar way. That spares guy spoke to me rudely but somehow i pestured him to tell the availability.

managed to buy it somehow OTC but after that they didn't have two minutes time to fix it also. had to take it to concorde to get it fixed.

Just now checked with Glen [8494920030] in charge of spares at KHT FIAT service station. Keeping my fingers crossed. Anyway, I will be waiting for your review of servicing at KHT FIAT.
They think that they are doing us a favour!

If they check for the spare parts availability only after the arrival of car on the day of service, then it's clearly waste of time for both parties. At least, they should order and stock the spares that are required for routine replacements (like what Ravi sir asks for). An ideal service booking process must capture the mandatory spares required for that car's scheduled service and keep them ready.

When my car needed a spare, I mailed the CRM of Vecto copying FIAT helpdesk, the CRM got back with the spare availability only after a reminder. Post experience of service, I feel that the CRM is there at Vecto for name sake and things are completely taken care by Mr.Chennabasappa only.

This again proves they are yet to get out of the TATA service culture. At least he should have taken your mobile number and given you a call back with the availability info after some time when he's relieved of his busy work.

Whether going for a routine service or to resolve a specific issue, they(most SCs) think that customers are ignorant idiots who know nothing about their car! They expect us believe the divine statements they blurt out like oracles.

This is certainly not TATA service culture. Concorde which is a Tata subsidiary was quite good if we talk about service culture.

My statement was based on the Prerana and 2 other TATA franchise workshop experience outside Bangalore. Concorde motors are always an exception among the TATA workshops, when compared to TATA franchise workshops. May be I should rephrase my statement as "TATA franchise workshop culture".

Good experience with Vecto Motors, Hosur Road, Bangalore

Last sunday (28th July) while driving back from a long drive along with my wife. I experienced a strange noise was coming from the front wheel whenever I applied brakes. Also I was scared to brake because of the loud noise it produced and the braking was not all that efficient on a highway. I parked in a sideway for a short visual inspection. I realized that the noise was indeed coming from the disc rotor upon brushing with the brake pads while I braked. The surface of my cars front-right wheel brake disc rotor was scraped. Looking at this I inferred either the brake pads or disc rotor or worse both might have been worn out.

After reaching outskirts of Bangalore, I immediately called up Vecto Motors, Hosur Road. I narrated my experience to the sales person who attended my call. He was courteous enough to inform me that since it was a Sunday the service division is closed and they can’t do much anything and we hung up.

Still feeling sad about my car and my stomach churning I dialed them again and pleaded them at least to have someone look at it. This time around the sales guy sensing the urgency and also the love I had for my car put me on hold for some time, then after a few minutes he asked to come over to the showroom but also added that he cannot promise anything. Taking chances I still headed straight to the showroom driving real slow to avoid hard braking and spoiling the rotor in the process. Thanks for the Sunday, the traffic on Hosur road was quite lean and I was able to reach the showroom by noon.

Upon reaching the showroom. I saw the service wing/bay was closed !! Praying to The Almighty I entered the sales division on the first floor and met the sales guy with whom I had spoken earlier. First he offers me a cold drink and then informs me what I feared the worst. He explained me that there were no one from the service team to inspect or fix the issue. Since the service wing was closed I couldn’t even leave my car out there. The time is now almost 3PM and adding to this my wife has now totally lost her cool. After some more begging and pleading, the sales guy calls up the service head. The head of the service team shows up half an hour later with a service technician even though it being a Sunday. He inspects and finds the issue is just with the disc brake pads. So we head to the spare parts division in the service bay

The spares store room is locked to which the service head doesn’t have a key for. But Mr.Cool Service Head calls up a FIAT-Roadside Assistance guy and asks him to come there along with the required spares. I was like “That was some real cool thinking”. The RSA guy finally showed up after an hour. He jacks up my car and changes both the front wheel brake pad set (L and R). After 20mins the replacement job is done. Mr.RSA also advises me to change the disc rotor before the next 10000kms on my odometer to which I obliged.

I paid for the spares which came upto ~3200Rs and finally by 5:30 my MJD90 was ready again for another long run J. I can’t thank enough for the service and sales team of Vecto Motors, Hosur Road for the service they offered. Though they took time but still they managed to help me out even on a Sunday. This is what FIAT’ians across India desperately needed.

    Cheers
    Vatsa
