Guess the parts problem continues. I had visited Vecto on June 12, 2013 with an abnormal noise coming from the front. They inspected the underbody and found that the "Drive Shaft Bracket" was broken. They tried fixing it by putting in another bolt, but they couldn't tighten it due to "lack of thread". SO the solution was to get a new bracket, and machine the hole. An order for the part was placed (a request was given to the spares section who said the request will be filed immediately). Its been two weeks as of today - the part hasn't reached yet!

So the days of waiting for parts is far from over. And I really did not feel that Vecto guys were really into preventive maintenance - they just push off concerns saying its "normal" with Puntos. The last being a message "Insuff. Engine oil pressure" that appeared on the MID. I took the car to them, and got a reply its "normal". I am really concerned about that message - especially with my car again showing poor pickup. Its due for a service shortly, and hope they'll not disappoint me at that.

    Finally I got Estimation, Car1.JPG

I am not understanding how inter cooler, turbo got affected, as I am having less knowledge about the parts inside the bonnet some one who has expertise on this can check the list.

OMG.. the amount of actual damage seems to be more than what one can guess from the picture. While I'm not an expert, AFAIK, inter-cooler takes the first blow in high speed frontal collisions (even if the car hits a dog). Looks like the collision impact was huge, as I could see even the alternator and turbo requires replacement. May be you should schedule some time and compare the list with SA's help (even though it's bit difficult to buy a SA's time for this).

Could you briefly tell us how did this happen? with what object was the collision? hope all the occupants are safe.

initial estimation is almost always blown up as the damage is not checked thoroughly. only when the repair starts, you will get an idea of how much its going to cost. I feel it will be half of what has been estimated now! you should not worry about that because insurance surveyors are going to inspect each and every part before approving. they will surely bring the cost down. thats their job!

looking at the pictures turbo should not be damaged and even if its damaged, it doesn't cost 27k! intercooler would have been damaged surely!

my advise is to get in touch with higher ups in the SC and keep following up with them regularly. visit the SC as many times as possible while the work is going on.

Had been to Vecto yesterday (yes Sunday) for replacing the LHS RR window weather strip (runner strip) under warranty. The windows glass slides very smoothly now.
I'm impressed with the action taken after my feedback. The weather strip is imported from Mopar and costs somewhere under 300 rupees. Also, got to know that FIAT is also trying to reduce the cost of spare parts:clapHope they don't deteriorate the quality of spares in this process.

Today, I called Vecto Motors just to get confirmed about the availability of timing/auxiliary/accessory drive belts that are required to be replaced during the next servicing [sixth, paid, 64 k km] for my Linea. My call was transferred to the spares department. The person, who attended the call, informed me that none of the belts/engine parts is available readily. It has to be ordered, and then, fitted after its arrival. When I requested him to check and inform while I waited, he refused flatly stating that he was very busy and could not check its availability. I told him that I would book for service appointment if the parts are available. He informed me to leave my car for servicing. Whatever parts available would be replaced, other non-available parts would be ordered and fitted later after their receipt. :(

Earlier, I used to get such information over phone quickly from Concorde Motors, Mysore Road/Dairy Circle. This is the first time, I am facing this situation of non-availability of essential parts. I will be scouting for this information from the other service providers in Bangalore. My Linea will get serviced from the service provider where these essential parts are readily available.

This is ridiculous. If someone is really so busy, he/she can call back after sometime.

Concorde is gone, try at KHT.
