  1. Torrid Motors Visit (14-Sep-2013) Report :

This setup for Fiat is very small right now for Fiat, sharing with Nissan workshop. They are going to open separate workshop at mahakali some where near MIDC Andheri and it will take another 2-3 months. Got solution for my wheel problem.

Following parts for Linea not available with them (may be its because its newly opened) :

    Glove Box.
    Right Side indicator light.

Overall experience was ok. But for my Blue & Me problem they didn't attended properly and said complete assembly needs to change for which i told them to check with fiat certify that its completely non-usable and not repairable. For This i will read some threads who had faced Blue & Me problem.

Finally one more FASS to FIAT's kitty. It was much needed in Mumbai with growing numbers of FIATs. But for now I will stick to "Sri" Balaji Motors.

    Torrid Motors Visit (21-Sep-2013) Report
Nothing new to share guys. the workshop shares space with Nissan SS and VW SS in the opposite structure, a new SS is in the making at Mahakali as Samv74 informed earlier which will be dedicated to FIATs, shd be operation in 2-3 months. Reached 9.30am, they could not find my car in their appointment list (guess that is synonymous with TATA/FIATs) but that was not an issue, they imm assigned SA Avinash to attend to me. he did a detailed survey of my car and took down my problem which mainly was the CEL for the EGR P0401 error. made a jobcard on 15 minutes and said that i will receive a call with details in some time. Since i had some errands to run, i decided not to wait there. the rest is below.
My woes continues. the below email i sent out just now to Torrid and FIAT. Hopefully it will give you all an idea of what i am dealing with. the car is in the SS and i should get it tomorrow. i dont know what will be the outcome of my mail. will share with you all.

    hi Avinash,

as discussed on Saturday, i am attaching the details of my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd service carried out in TIMELY manner for my Linea MJD. If Torrid motors and the Service Manager had any doubts on this, you could have asked me in a more customer friendly tone rather than accusing me of not being getting my car serviced on time. the tone in which Mr Parag Vaid spoke with me(as a first time customer) does not help my decision to come to Torrid Motors for my service needs. Being in the customer service industry for over 15 years, i have never spoken wit my customers, let alone be new customers, in this way.

In my interaction with you on 21 Sep morning, for the EGR code P0401 Check engine Lamp issue on my Linea, i was very clear in explaining how bad my past experiences has been since Galaxy Motors (from where i bought my car) shut shop. I also explained to you the whole chaos at fortune motors during my 3rd service, wrt non availability of my 2nd service records in their internal system. I also mentioned that i had all invoices that proved the servicing of my vehicle was carried out on time and by paying a lot of money. We even spoke at 3.30pm that you will attempt to clean the EGR @ 2200/- labour charge since EGR valve needs at-least 15 days to be procured from FIAT. Despite of this i received a call from Mr Parag, who without asking me any background, right away said, EGR valve has to be changed and that I will incur a cost of 11000/- for the whole ordeal. When i asked him whether EGR is covered under extended warranty (which it is), he just took off by saying that for claiming extended warranty, the car needs to be serviced on time, filters etc have to be changed on time and so on... I asked him if he is so sure about my vehicle and knows more about it than me, what if I produce all the required invoices that could prove him wrong. to this there was no reaction and i hung up the phone. After this i called you and my apologies if i overreacted during our conversation. but if you are on my side, you would understand why i spoke that way. Such kind of conversation with a first time customer is completely uncalled for.

If there is any ambiguity in service records, you need to verify with your customer rather than simply assuming things.
As such, the service experience after buying this car has been a real unhealthy experience with FIAT and TATA jv issues and policies change without the SS replacements in place, I thought this new venture was a step by FIAT to changing that but this experience with Torrid has taken me back to where i came from, that none of the FIAT SS in Mumbai are bent on customer service and that FIAT are not really doing much to understand what their customers go through once the car is bought. I have intentionally marked FIAT in this mail and i know nothing would be done on this.

Anyways, i have attached the documents that i have and i hope this will be enough for correcting the internal records for good.
I need my car tomorrow and i will expect a call from you on this at the earliest.

    Regards,
    Mayur.

  6. Mayur you faced really horrible experience with Torrid motors. Wish with this mail they will behave properly with customers.

Hi guys, got my car just now. The above matter has been apparently raised with FIAT (No way to confirm this) and the requirement for a EGR valve has also been raised. This however is subject to the lamp coming on again after the egr has been cleaned @ 2200/- and the error has been reset. I am supposed to report if the lamp comes back on so they(Torrid) will order the egr valve which takes 15 days.
Mr Avinash my SA, has been of great help during this activity as compared to Mr Vaid who was unable for comment after my email above.
So I would still recommend you guys to visit Torrid for your service needs and once the bigger workshop opens in 2 months, things should be better.

    @cooltaurean,

Its sad to know that you had a rough time at the Torrid. Is it time to change the name of the workshop to "Horrid Motors"? Well time will only tell, a couple of more bad reports on this forum and people will surely refer to the new name.

Have you raised the issue with Fiat? Whats has been their response? I am sure after this incident Mr Vaid would be able to face you.

Indeed it was sad . but what are the options? We have to live with what is available. Hopefully you guys don't have to face this but I would still advice you to retain service records invoices to be on a safe side.
As for the name change, only time will tell.
The above mail was sent to FIAT as well, if any of you all think this can be raised differently let me know but I don't think FIAT would do much.
As for my car, it looks ok now with the CEL not glowing and I hope it stays that way. I did find a Torrid Motors sticker on my back glass though. This was very diligently done I guess.
All the best guys, and do post your feedback for others to go prepared and avoid inconvenience.
