    My car was there was 4 days for the issue but came back with no change. I happened to meet MR Chandrasekar MD of RDC had a chat with me he has also promised that my issue will get sorted out. Hope for the best

    Even my car has an issue, engine knocking when cold, am having high hopes and crossed fingers.

    Rest assured, I would NOT take delivery until I see the issue has been solved or been taken care of.

    So here is a video which tries capturing the noise. Diesel engines knock this way it seems. Problem might be with the injectors/timing or fuel quality which is ruled out in my case.

    P.S: Its quite a boring and long video, watch out till 40 seconds, above that its boring, pay attention around 20 secs and whenever the RPM is between 1.5k to 2k.

    Not yet, I am reserving my comments till I get the car back. But initial impressions seem to be sluggish. Maybe because Enrico is visiting their sales division tomorrow. But that should not be a bother for service (why did they give me a service slot today then), however this reason was given to me for the car not being delivered tomorrow. Hopefully by this weekend I should be laying hands on either my car or them. :p

    I had to follow up with multiple calls for an update and they said that the examiner did not show up anything with regards to this knocking issue.

    So I was at RDC service today afternoon and the (2nd) inaugural function was going on in the presence of all top brass of Fiat and RDC employees.

    The place was all decorated for the occasion. A couple of pics.



    Now, the progress of things to be done.

    Below is the job card.


    The knocking noise is due to the injectors. One of the injectors is faulty and doing foul play. Tensingh mentioned an other possibility wherein the ECU and the injectors numbers don't match. This was later found to be the case in my car and they have changed the same on the ECU. Would TD the car tomorrow morning and decide if the issue is solved for good. I happened to interact with the MD of RDC Fiat too, showed him this video and he just took seconds to zero in on the case, very knowledgeable person.

    On another note, I found a new dent on the left front door from the inside. Not a dent, but an imperfection kind of thing. I suspect an impact from the inside as the door pads were removed and being worked on. Or it might be an issue with the paint quality or rusting too. Whatever it is, Tensingh has assured that he would take care of it.

    Overall, I am happy. Lets hope for the best.

    Happened to see your car parked last thursday. Tensing said they will carry out the operation. Sad to hear it is still not been fixed.

    When my car was in for third service the examiners were not available with RDC. Will be taking them by this sat to fix up some issues related to rear seat, Dashboard and front suspension and engine has started to become noisy.

    I took delivery of the car yesterday.

    All issues are resolved. The engine knocking is history now. The knocking was due to the injectors programmed wrongly in the ECU. Pat yourself on your back, FIAT QC!

    To give you a gist, the car arrived from the factory with a dented boot and rear bumper, no 90HP logo (There is one now bought from my pocket), defective steering column+rack, rust at few spots and no AC gas. Sorting each issue has been a headache and I am not done yet. Both front doors have developed some sorts of bulges from the inside where no tool or force can reach. RDC has taken pics of the door and would e-mail Fiat for the course of action.

    Overall, I am happy with the experience with RDC service. Full marks to them for diagnosis, resolution and attention to detail


    • Good attention to detail, the gear lever in my car was not pointing straight, purely a cosmetic issue. When I pointed this to True Sai service head, all I got was a stare as if I had asked half of his treasury. :p It was not attended to. But surprise surprise, RDC corrected it for me without me even informing them about it. I sincerely hope you continue the same way, RDC.
    • I requested for an air filter change, it actually involves less work than cleaning an existing one and putting it back, but RDC cleaned and put it back telling me the filter was good and replacement was not necessary. I knew this only when billing happened.
    • Engine knocking issue - Solved, injectors reprogrammed
    • Cold Start issue - Battery checked and reported ok
    • Blue&Me, USB, Steering controls not functioning, ODO flashing continuously - Proxy alignment done and everything is fine now

    The above were the major complaints from my end, and am happy everything is resolved.


    Internal damage to both front doors which mysteriously happens when the car was with RDC

    However RDC can improve on the following:

    • Giving updates on a daily basis to the customer, if the car is going to be there for more than a day
    • Be well versed on both theory and practice. People there argued that the quantity is 3.5L for the engine oil. I stressed that it is 3.2L only but they did not budge. But in practice, they have filled in the correct quantity, I just checked the levels. Though no harm is done to the car, this reduces the confidence level of the customer.
    • The washing was not perfect, especially the interiors, running board/underbody. But definitely better than TASS.

    Minor tidbits:

    • Somehow, RDC gifted me some 50 mosquitoes along with the car, I had a tough time chasing them out for the next 4 hours. Please keep the doors closed and windows rolled up to avoid this. :D
    • Please turn off the AC when you turn off any customers car. I was plainly irritated when the ACC comes on whenever I try to crank.
    • Please idle the car for atleast 30 seconds before you turn off after a TD/rev up session for MJDs/T-Jets. That should take car of the turbos the way we do.

    Bill Amount: 2731 INR, I was billed only for the 4L of Selenia WR 5W40 and the filter. Requested remaining oil and it was promptly returned.

    The SA was AbinAshok, though I was interacting more with Tensingh. Kudos Tensingh and team!

    Spotted naveen2cool and vigneshram's Puntos but sorry guys, was on a tight schedule and hence could not stop by.
