re: FIAT Exclusive Service Center: RDC Fiat, Chennai

In my case, RDC, Tamizh especially changed the ORVM mirror for me without any labor charges. It is better we clarify the labor charges upfront for fixing things, if we find its inappropriate, we can just take the spare and do a DIY or from a FNG.

When you want to pick the part, they generally tell you, they cannot sell it Over The Counter. This has happened with Aadya to me. I wanted to enquire if wipers were available, the reply I got is we dont sell OTC. Phew! I replied, "I only asked the availability" and walked off.

How old is your car? Waiting for 2/3 weeks for not so critical part is fine. If you do the repairs outside, you may lose the warranty if your car is still under the warranty.

Regarding the bill of Rs. 9000, can you please provide the split? I believe they might have changed all the fluids at 45,000 kms.

Ignite is in-famous for servicing Fiats. Surprising that you have good esxperience there. :)

SA at aadya once tried to bill 100 Rs labour for replacing ORVM mirror on my punto! I spoke to their CRM and told that "firstly you are not selling it OTC and on top of it you want to charge 100 rs labour for a 2 min job which I can do myself!! this is not right!!" also! After this she told the SA not to charge any labour for it!!

I haven't visited RDC yet. But, I was not charged for any minor jobs at the TAFE Reach, Chennai. Even surprising when we tipped the TAFE mechanic for quickly fixing an issue, he denied it saying they are not supposed to receive it (Mistake on our part?).

The people as such are good and willing to help, like Tensingh and Tamizh. But the management expects otherwise and they are bound to.

I too remember offering a tip at TAFE Reach and was politely refused by the guy. I was surprised and felt bad that I offered it in the first place.

  8. I went to RDC Fiat for the 4th Service of my Fiat Linea MJD. I saw Tensingh there, but he was busy with some other work. A SA called Abin attended to me. I had the following problems:

    1. Gear Shifts have become hard.
    2. Steering is hard.
    3. Low Mileage
    4. Poor Pickup.
    5. Blackening of headlamps (I asked this to be claimed under warranty).
    6. Hard Vibrations when AC is switched on as the radiator fly wheel is running very fast!!

He listed through the standard set of things that have to be replaced and the estimate comes to 12500/-.
He said that he ll check the vehicle and call me if there is anything that he finds during servicing. All in all it took around 40 minutes to drop the car for service, which seems to be OK for me.

But the service center is packed with cars and not sure how they are managing these many number of cars in such a small facility.

Abin called me in the noon and said that the RS lower Arm bush has come off and needs to be replaced.
    Clutch kit needs replacement.

I told him that the clutch kit was replaced in the 3rd service and asked him to replace it under warranty for which he said that he ll try for it.
On the headlamps, he said that the plastic parts are not covered under warranty.

As far as the service center review is concerned, I guess they are far better than TASS. But the lack of premises and lack of service history of the vehicles are hitting them hard.

On the warranty front, can I claim under extended warranty for
    1. Headlamps
    2. Radiatory Fly Wheel
    3. RS Lower Arm
    2 people like this.

Plastic not covered? That is BS. What if my headlamp is taking in water during a wash or the rains? Would he still give me the same reason? No. Just because you can live with the blackened headlamps, you are given this reason.

Am surprised Abin called you to give updates. :) He has been my SA for atleast 3 times and not once has he called for updates, I had to. But I understand an SAs work pressure at a place like RDC which is not even worker friendly.

Headlights are covered under warranty. Whole headlight assembly in my Punto was replaced under warranty when it had alignment issue. It was replaced at TAFE even when I did not ask for the replacement. Siva has to confirm if his car is under standard warranty or under extended warranty.
