I agree completely there is no point in just taking in more cars than they can handle and then not being able to do a proper job on all of them. My only concern is that they don’t seem to be able to sort the running repairs out properly because of lack of equipment/time or lack of spares. I still believe that RDC is doing the best they can with what has been provided to them. It would be unfair to expect RDC to open a bigger service center just because they were the first ones to open a FASS, few months down the line they would be under utilized since there would be a few a more service centers.

I am just a little disappointed with Fiat, I think they missed a trick a two by not opening more service centers in Chennai. They had a real opportunity to wow the customers and future customers of the brand. The first impression is the most important.
I suppose we should also understand that they would some time to learn and ramp up as they have just started with the exclusive centers. Let’s just hope that things improve just like teky has mentioned.
No matter how much I crib about this, one long drive in my car and I am back to grinning from ear to ear.:D

+100. Thats the best part about the car is you drive and you simply destress yourself.
  3. Waiting for regular servicing is understandable provided reasonable time limit is given and car is not having major issues. I hope this reduces as we march along with few more FASS's coming up. But not taking a look at running/emergency issues or not having facility to sort them out and there by asking customer to come back at later time is definitely not acceptable.
Absolutely. The best thing about Fiat is the Car itself :)

Waiting for normal servicing is not a problem, but they should be able to complete the normal services in a day.
Booking before two weeks and going there just to find out wheel alignment machine not working, diesel filter not available, washing not done properly etc is not acceptable. These are the comments I heard from friends when RDC had just started. Hope they are well equipped for normal servicing at least now.

Running repairs always require some spares and I want FIAT to ensure all service centers stock enough spares. "Sir, we will order the part and it will arrive in 2 weeks" statement is still haunting me

I was amazed to hear from a fellow member who owns a 1980's Maruti 800 and he says he got all his spares from Maruti service centre which was readily available and got his car serviced there :shocked FIAT are you listening?

I was browsing through the Fiat India's FB page and got to know that RDC Service was inaugurated by none other than the Italian Ambassador to India, Mr. Daniele Mancini. :)

In our hectic schedules it is difficult to plan something a week later, leave alone 2/3 weeks! As to HMP you probably didn't look for alternatives which were available. I had a Santro and never had to wait for more than 2/3 days for getting a slot at TAFE or Reliance.

The point I'm trying to make is that as so many of us in the similar line know, managing the cutover during a transition is very critical for the KTBR, and in this we see a miserable failure.

Nice! Since he couldn't leave the country guess he was trying to make himself useful! :)

re: FIAT Exclusive Service Center: RDC Fiat, Chennai

Ufffff, not again. I should visit this place again on Monday. Wish I could bang my head. They try fixing one issue and create two!

    Two symptoms I have noticed.

    1. The fuel pump is not priming at all. As soon as the key is turned, there is no buzz of the fuel pump.

    2. I am seeing FE like the ones below within city, which I have never seen till date of ownership. (Sorry, image did not load up, FE is something around 9, for a 50-50 mix of AC and non AC driving.)

    I have a bad feeling! su4u2epy.jpg

RDC is a classic example of how a good workforce can be made inefficient by a not so good management.

  9. RDC FIAT Chennai - lot in common with Chennai Auto drivers (me thinks)

I own a Fiat Punto Active 1.2 Petrol (Yes! that under-powered car hated by all :)) and gave the car for service in RDC sometime back.
My 2 cents - I too feel they have a lot in common with Chennai Auto drivers when it comes to overcharging the customers. Spare part availability is still a headache.

    Incident 1:
My Punto's lower bumper grill was gone (something should have struck and it should have fallen by the roadside) and i wanted a new grill. The grill arrived after 3 weeks( request made during service) and after multiple follow-ups (I had to call the SA AbinAshok). I am still in need of door ajar switch on driver's side. It's more than 2 months since I made the request. I suppose some one has gone fetching that switch all the way from Italy.
I was charged Rs. 300+ for the grill, and 150 Rs, for the labor charge. Throw in VAT, and in total i paid 580 Rs. to replace the lower grill.
It was a 1 minute job. If i'd known the charge, i would've done it myself. And they made me wait 1 hour for that. And i had done the (incident 2) service mentioned below just 2 weeks before. The grill was not available during the service. I do not think 150 Rs for gently tapping that grill in position is an appropriate price.

    Incident 2:
I was charged 9000 bucks for service - largely regular 45K service. What surprised me was labor charges, they charged me about 4500 Rs for labor.
I am a novice too(this is my first car ever) and mine is a pre-owned car, and this was my first experience in FASS.
So i simply paid up even though i felt that i was overcharged.
I had done the previous regular service in IGNITE the Garage (a private garage) in ECR, and was largely satisfied.

I will scan the bill and post it in this thread so that some seniors can comment.

My car has a small dent in the boot door (Diwali gift by Tata Ace whose brake had taken a break), and RDC person verbally quoted appx 8000 bucks to repair that. I decided to live with that.

After reading all the posts here, My feeling that i was overcharged at RDC gets stronger.

IGNITE ECR, sort of works for me now. I am hoping 99rpm.com works out, so that i can avail spare parts and get it fixed in known private garages until Chennai gets a more decent FASS.

^^ You were lucky since you got to buy the grill for 300/-, You will be surprised to see the new price of the same part which is around 1024+ now.

And regarding the labor for replacement, they probably priced it high since they'll need to remove the bumper to pull out the old grill due to the type of clips it has, but in your case the grill has already fallen off so there was no need to.
