It is the Ramkay group. It is going to be a pretty big facility.

Yes, Fiat should have anticipated this scenario and opened a few more service centers. Having said that and given the current scenario where we have a smallish service center I think RDC is doing the best they can, here’s why

    • Would we be a happy bunch if we had to book an appointment for service some 3 weeks in advance since there are capacity constraints?
    • Wouldn’t we the first ones to complain to Fiat about RDC if they refuse to take appointments because they say they don’t have the capacity to do so?
    • Would you decide to go to RDC again after the other new service centers open if you are never able to get an appointment at RDC?
Yes, they do have to draw a line somewhere and choose between the quality of service and quantity but given the current situation I think they are doing a great job.
I am saying this inspite of the fact the SA told me that he may not be able to complete the work (Changing brake pads and rotors) by evening since there was a rush even though I had an appointment for the same. It’s great that they gave me my car back in 4 hrs. Having realized that they are not able to cope with the numbers they are looking to open a new service center as well.

Things are not perfect but I think they are doing the best they possibly can.

re: FIAT Exclusive Service Center: RDC Fiat, Chennai

The service crew is doing their best but my rant was that they are being pressurized by their management.

And yes, dealers have the right to reject service bookings if they are running full for the day.

I have been rejected once by VST even for running repairs since I didn't have a booking. I politely walked out since it is my fault for not making a prior booking. How did TAFE work? We ask for a preferred day of booking and if they had a slot yes, well and good, else we were given an other date. And the numbers they took in were proportionate to the service bays available, which is not the case with RDC and that is precisely my point. Why over promise and under deliver?

Yes. Certainly they are. But I still feel rather than this approach by the management to take in all the cars that came and do this lightening paced service, it would have been better if they had restricted appointments to only the number of cars they can realistically handle with the given resources. Just my opinion.

In the end a quality service and delivery on the committed time are what that matter to me.
    This seems to being compromised.

We are not really sure if its the RDC management which is putting this pressure on them or if its Fiat since they don't have any other service centers around, so it might not be right on our part to prejudge them so soon. Its just like getting married you need to take a few months to get to know each other ;) I take it at the moment a lot of people may have complaints but they are learning too.

I was promised delivery earliest by 6 in the evening but I got my car by 2 in the afternoon and the work was completed to my satisfaction. Yes, this might not be the case for everyone. My personal experience at RDC has been good so my comments are based on that.

Well, we aren't judging buddy, this is what I heard from a person whom I can't name here, who is at a senior position in RDC. So, that part is confirmed.

And do you think Fiat would really be bothered to individually assign targets to each service station? No. Even i have had good experience with them, but we are doing constructive criticism here, aren't we? No one is claiming thier service to be bad, so let's stick to the point. :)

I can vouch for this - They are taking more than what they can eat. They should put stricter controls to take only so many cars - Hopefully will pass this feedback on to the chairman.

I'm also not too happy with the sales side - Can't expect more from Mr.Fazil. One of my friend has booked 75HP and they are not much co-operative is what I heard.

What??? Now, he is with RDC Sales???

I would never recommend anyone to deal with him in anyway. Instead it would be worth going to other cities too till we get other dealerships in Chennai. A persons attitude can never be changed.

re: FIAT Exclusive Service Center: RDC Fiat, Chennai

Okay guys, quick update. Got the car back today. No updates from my SA whatsoever inspite of me telling to keep me informed. I casually call him this evening to find the status and he says car is ready. So I go there.

    Major issues reported :

No turbo kick, low pickup and mileage, failed oil separator
    Steering wobble when braking

I would elaborate on the other issues later on as I had a long day today.

Meanwhile, am sad to say that issue number one is still there. No turbo kick in any gear with WOT whatsoever. They say they changed the oil separator. And Tensingh said he checked theoretically if the turbo is fine but he didn't have a TD. They asked me to report after I drive and am going to do that tomorrow. There is not even a hint of the prominent push of the FGT. Not done RDC, not done. I gave the car to you mainly for this.

The steering wobble is atleast gone. And other minor issues am yet to check.
The car was clean, both exteriors and interiors but then again mosquitoes. LOL.

And I found a deep scratch on the LH rear fender. Showed it to them and they buffed it with some 3M rubbing compound. Guess it happened while taking the car out the gate as Tamizh was telling me that atleast a car gets scratched a day due to the narrow exit. Thanks to the minimal Grey color, the gloss is restored after rubbing.

I am attaching the bills here. In the job card they mentioned 180 bucks as consumables. But in my bill it is reflected as Labour charge. They shouldn't be doing this as this is supposed to be a 'free' service meaning no Labour charges.

Another thing am hating about the new ERP or billing system Fiat or atleast RDC is using against Tata's is that these bills do not reflect the part numbers. Nor do they reflect the parts changed under warranty. This is not good.

And to add to our woes he is the team lead for sales - God save that. But I heard that they've sold about 100 cars in 3 months which is quite good in Fiat's status now!
