Was washing my car today, after which while vacuuming and cleaning the door sill found that Ramkay folks have damaged my front RH door beading.

Let's see what they do as this happened at the service centre while the brake booster was changed. The technician was sitting, lying on it most of the time, and this beading was perfectly fine the last time I had cleaned my car before visiting Ramkay.

EDIT: Just got an update from Mr Samuel, works Manager, asking me to email the pics.

It seems that Ramkay is going all out to increase the service revenue.

Today, I received a call from Ramkay Service. I was told that the service interval for the car is 1 year but it is advised to do a General Checkup every 6 months and that I can avail the same. They will charge Rs. 350 for checkup and they can also do a wash (for additional cost) and provide free pickup and drop. I asked if this advisory came from Fiat or is it a Ramkay initiative for which there was no clear answer from the caller. When I kept asking the same question, finally they agreed that it is an initiative from Ramkay customer service for the benefit of the customers. They offered the checkup service for tomorrow and I denied it saying I haven't made my mind yet.

Now, I am really scared to take my car there. I don't know what reasons they will invent to increase the service bill.

Doing a regular checkup every 6 months is good but, the communication from them should have been very clear. They should have clearly communicated that it is a Ramkay Initiative and entirely optional.

Ramesh, it has become all commercial now.

Best way out is to stand along the car within the workshop after taking a day off.

All those general checkups can be done by ourselves. Fluid levels, OBD scanner check and brake pad wear.

That's true. Just think about a person who do not have much knowledge on this. He would have readily accepted for their checkup service. The caller sounded as if it is very essential to do the General Check-up every 6 months. This is completely unethical and misleading campaign in my opinion. They should have sounded very clear on this.

^^Looks like Ramkay thought that Fiat customer are the run of mill car product owners. They will probably understand this very soon, they started with a good note but they seem to be focused on more money than customer satisfaction.

Quoting the post from harry_1407 on his experience with Ramkay. I believe they read this thread and change their attitude for good.

It just shows that we have lost the confidence with whatever they say to us.

If the bush replacement involve some work, they should have waited for the part to arrive. This shows absolute lack of professionalism.

Given my vehicle for the scheduled second year, third free service. Mentioned clearly to do only rudimentary checks as part of the schedule and gave no complaints either on braking, suspension. vehicle has clocked 19100km

    Pointers notified for the service:
    1. Escalated the rust that i had found on the body where the rear boot meets the main body. They have agreed to fix the same next month by photographing and sending the same to FIAPL to get approval.
    2. Showed the door noise to a service adviser and he had taken into account and has promised to give the best resolution possible.
    3. Also requested to change right hand side rubber bush in the trunk door which s damaged, along with left side seat wobbling when vehicle is in idle.

I got a approx quote of rs.8500 plus taxes.. Requested balancing also for which ever wheel necessary which was told to be a sticker. Shall update bill and photo graphs of the same once i take delivery
Service Adviser Arun delivered vehicle on the said time after completion of 2 year 3 rd service. He has taken care all action points mentioned in my previous post. Will be uploading the scanned copy of the invoice.

In the mean time happened to put the near empty (~ 12 liters diesel left) vehicle on the weigh bridge. Pl check the pic and conclude on the same. I am not able to believe the car could be 1220kg. That being a 100ton weighbridge with a acceptable error tolerance of 5% still looks slightly on the higher side.
Why should company mention the kerb weight as 1130kg. Is it dry weight without fluids. Would the fluids alone could have contributed to the rest of the weight mentioned in the slip attached to this post. Please confirm once.

car had 12 liters diesel and also had jacky set/ spare wheel. Could that have contributed to the additional weight mentioned here.

Happen to see this in Ramkay's website - Current Openings at Ramkay Fiat | Chennai Fiat Dealer

When you look at the salary detail, they get incentives based on minimum labor target. It is now very much understandable that both the mechanic and the SA will be keen on achieving their target rather than satisfying the customer. :)

    1. Technician
Experience : 1-3 years in Automobile service
    Qualifications: ITI / Diploma
    Age: above 20 years
    Gender : Male
    Salary : 6,000 – 8,000 + Incentives on achieving minimum labor target
    Responsibility: Mechanic.

    2. Service Advisor
Experience : 1-3 years in Automobile service
    Qualifications: ITI / Diploma
    Age: 20 – 35 years
    Gender : Male / Female
    Salary : 8,000 – 10,000 + Incentives on achieving minimum target
Responsibility: Customer Job card and delivery co-ordination.

Sales target for the Sales Advisor is understandable. Service target may do good for the dealer not for the Customer and the Fiat Brand.

This probably explains/relates to why Ramkay's Customers are not very happy in recent times on the Labour Cost/Overall bill. I totally agree your take on Service Target.
