Right. In most cases they would be from independent workshops only. When I got my key (both car and home key) locked out in boot, I first tried to reach TAFE that time. They suggested me to call RSA first and if they don't help, they will try to send their mechanic. And I then called RSA and an independent mechanic was sent to my home to retrieve the key. RSA did work well that day. In this case, if you have called RSA, they would most probably try to connect you with the nearest FASS. If the FASS is not ready to send any mechanic, the RSA would have arranged a towing truck to take the car to the nearest workshop. To quote another incident, I was driving on the Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam 200 ft road last Saturday and got to see a broken swift in the middle of the road with a lady driver standing out and talking on the phone. I stopped immediately and went near the car to find that the front tyre has burst. I saw the jack was positioned wrongly and it was also struck. On enquiry, came to know that she is trying to reach out to MASS helpline but they are unresponsive. An independent mechanic who went by that side tried to replace the tyre and he has messed with the improper positioning of the jack. I thought of taking mine and helping her out and by that time the same mechanic came back to the spot with another jack. I then left the spot. This happened within city limits and still MASS didn't respond to a customer. Ramkay has indeed done a laudable job. - - - Merged Post - - - No Naveen. No mechanic from other than FASS will be allowed to work on the mechanicals of the car by RSA.
