Has anyone tried out the new TASC Mohandas Motors in Trivandrum :?:
I am thinking of taking my car to this place for second service. Had my first service at Kulathunkal Motors, not that they are bad, but reaching them is pretty difficult if you don't have a friend to drop you. :irked
  2. I had a TD of Safari DICOR from them last month. I asked about the service of Fiats and they said they can service Puntos & Lineas. Haven't heard any reviews about their service so far.

I have decided that I won't go to Kulathunkal again. It is TVS for me for the Palio. For Punto, it can be Mohandas.. or else Concorde in Cochin.

I got a call from Mohandas Motors yesterday. My second service is due this month and I have decided to give it there, and booked for 12 August 2010. Will post my experience after that.

All the best Roy. Keep us posted.

I had done my first service from Kulathunkal couple of days ago. I had called up and booked a slot. :dancing The lane to the service bay was almost full @ 9am. Possibly because it was a Saturday. On entering the service reception. I was like ::OO . It was totally crowded, 2 poor recepentionists were talking on phone, writing down forms, replying to queries. The lady politely asked me to sit. All the seats were already taken. Most of the people were Indica/Indigo owners. Typical Indian behaviour - already people are issued tokens at the gate, still they crowd around the desk. :A
    - 3 to 5 visitors per car comes.
When i looked around I saw the notice board with my name listed as 3rd :wow . I listened to various guys and the list of complaints were pretty long. I was scared and peeked into their service manuals. All of them were Indica guys. phew!. Only 3 Fiats were there my Punto, a Linea and a Palio. Palio guy was praying and muttering "Last time i was %$#$@ed. Hope this time it turns out well"

Thankfully, the service guy came fast and took me out. Service results were OK. Interior cleaning was great, but dirty hand prints were on the glovebox and a door pad. . The glovebox was adjusted, marginal improvement. SA said this is the best they can do. I told them about the height adjuster and he said if problem exists come back. The exterior cleaning was good but some places (nook & corners) was not fully clean. Anyone know how to remove the darn temp registration sticker. Parts of it are still sticking royally on the front :A

I got the car back by 4pm. Seems like the whole delay is for the car wash! Luckily only 103 Rs was charged for 0.2 litres of engine oil. All other fluid top-up was free. :clap

Overall, the service is fine. But its so crowded. The Kulathunkal infrastructure is stretched to the limit. What will happen once the Nanos are common.. :confused

    What happened at kulathunkal?

That pretty much sums up my assessment of Kulathunkal Motors.
When you are overloaded, you tend to make mistakes. That is what is happening here. :irked

I got a call from Mohandas motors, but prefer to stick to Kulathungal until they make some huge mistake. Kulathungal SA has received training from Fiat but I am not sure what is the case at Mohandas. Fiat really need trained SAs, its no so crude as Indicas.
But early bird at Mohandas is sure to get special treatment for sometime and if they are good it will be good for you long term. Do let us know your experience at Mohandas post your bill, We can have a comparison of the charges and things they did.

Roy just make sure the service reminder spanner icon is cleared after your service. It will not be cleared if they dont have the diagnostics gadget. My 15k service was done without any analysis using the diagnostics tool and it remained for few 100kms after service.
  8. I gave my Palio for service at Kulathunkal a month back.

    * I insisted on filling synthetic oil - They filled Selenia synthetic oil that is used only in Diesel engines - the WR5W40. Later I found this out and argued that the engine oil is for diesel engines, and they are not ready to accept the mistake. I demanded a instruction manual for Linea/Punto - I could clearly show them that Fiat recommends another grade of Selenia (Selenia K) for petrol engines and not the WR-5W40. I hate that attitude of many of these guys that the customers are dumb guys when it comes to cars and that they can be taken for a ride easily.

    * The car was not washed on return - You have to wait till next day for that.

    * The front RH suspension developed a bad sound after the service! It was like the entire suspension has gone loose - I got it checked this with TVS, and they fixed it an hour - it was indeed a risky thing that I drove with that sound. The caliper bolt was not tightened properly.

Moreover, Kulathunkal is infested with Indicas and other TATA vehicles and the workshop can't handle all that load - this means you get very less personal attention. Once I told the service adviser NOT to do wheel alignment, and he got it done with the service!

TVS at Karamana is far far better for my Palio. Hope they will be able to do a good job when my Punto is up for paid services.

Regarding the engine oil, I too noticed (in bill) something similar but not as severe as yours (or it is). For my 2nd service the oil they (claimed to) used was "Mobil1 0W40", charged around 1000 per litre. 2 weeks back I went for change of wiper blades and alignment and they did an oil topup of "Fiat diesel engine oil 5w40", which cost some 350 per litre. So definitely different viscosity and I am not sure how effectively these will blend together. You guys are prompting me to give a try at Mohandas. Anyways lets wait for feedback from Roy, his service appointment is today. :up

It was raining incessantly in the morning when I took my car to Mohandas Motors. Reached there a little after 9:00AM. Approach road to the place is a little bad, other wise the place looked ok. This place was started just four months back and Fiat service started just three weeks back. The security guard welcomed me in and showed me the place to park the car and where to go in. I parked the car and went in, and there was not a soul in sight. ::pP
Then I saw through the glass window where all the staff members had assembled and having some meeting. I sat down on the sofa there and waited. Soon a service representative named Vishnu came, took the details of the vehicle. I told him the only problem I have with the car, which happens to be the rear windshield washer tube getting disconnected from the sump in the front. He noted that down and all the scratches on the paint (there are plenty of them  ) gave an estimate of around Rs.5000/- said they accept cash as well as card and the car will be ready by 4:00pm. The service representative was cordial and helpful and did his best to ensure that I was comfortable, but he didn't seem to be an expert with Fiat vehicles.
I left the car there and went back home. While I was nearing the home, I got a call from the lady at Mohandas Motors and enquired when I am going the take the car there. I was ::OO isn't my car already there?
Then she apologized and said she hadn't checked the arrived vehicles. Poor Coordintaion. :hit
Well let us see how I receive the car back.
