My Speedo had stopped working on Friday, so called Metro Motors Ambala on Saturday. Both Joshi Auto Chd and B Dass Pkl had refused taking car in as they didn't have required spares to carry out repair. Please give me your contact no and name and I would inform you on Monday about availability. Me :- Gave the details. True to the words of receptionist I received a call from her stating that said part is in stock and I can send the car anytime I want. ( Frankly speaking I was surprised when I received this call. In Tata ASS I had to call back numerous times to check on part availability was always given false promises by Joshi Chd that we would inform when parts become available) Left from home at 11:30 AM. Had a very strange ride, sometimes the odo would indicate 0 km/hr and sometimes above 200 km/hr. Reached Metro Motors around 12:15 PM. Parked in front of Dealership. Security Guard comes and greets me and ask If I want to go to Sales Office or Workshop. I said workshop, he promptly says sir the entry for Fiat is from backside take right after that Bus. The road was very narrow and full of pot-holes (It's temporary gate) I reach the backside and drive into ASS. Mr Amit comes and greets me and asked what is the problem with car. I explained the problem and straight away the car goes on the lift. Technicians dressed in grey and red cloths with FIAT logo comes and have a look, the silencer was too hot and they left for the car to get a little cold so that they could access the sensor etc. They again came back after lunch and started work. Opened Sensor and gear to see what problem is. According to them Sensor is working fine as there is no error noticed and problem is with gear. They replace with a new one and still speedo doesn't work. Tries 2-3 times and gives up and says the problem is with internal plastic gear and gearbox have to opened to replace it. I ask about estimate and gave them a go ahead. They say it would take approx a day as full gearbox have to be dismantled and re-fitted. I say change the clutch set too at same time. They agree and start working. I ask if I could get the delivery today itself, they say it's difficult but we would try our level best to get it ready by today itself. And full team of Fiat technicians start to dismantle car part by part and one man gets all required parts from spares deptt. When they drain the old oil from gearbox they show how bad it have become and have to be replaced. I ask If oil can't run 60k kms then why Fiat recommend 60k interval they say it is due to water mixing with oil you must have drove in deep water logged area. I said yes I have done that many times this monsoon, mechanic recommends to get oil changed after every monsoon if you drive in water logged areas. I said OK. They again start working and get the gearbox down from car and dismantle it completely and show me the part that had failed(made of plastic and tooth had got plain). They say it is the first time they are seeing something like this and some cars have done 1.5 lacs and more without any failure. They put in new part and start fitting gearbox parts together after washing them. It was 5:30 PM and I ask I would get delivery today. Sir don't worry we would give delivery today itself even if that means working for extra time. I said thank you and very nice gesture from all of you. By 6:30 PM everything was put back in car with new oil and clutch set and it was time for a TD. So off we went to NH-22 and had nice and long TD and the speedo was working as it should. They ask if there is any other problem in car, I say the air filter Assembly nuts have gone free and sometime opens when driving. They check and say that it have to changed Should we do it. I gave a go ahead and within 5 mins all done. Thanked all the mechanics for the real hard work they did to get the car ready in such small time. Asked for the final bill and it came to 11,140/-. This is the best service I have got in past 3 years of owning a Fiat. The mechanics looked completely trained and they were confident about what they were doing. All the people had positive approach and not chalta hai attitude. I had been begging Joshi to replace air filter assembly from 6 months but they didn't seem interested at all and everytime I went their they had a new excuse. Metro Motors replaced it even though it was well over their official closing time.
