As far as I know, Alignment is included as part of the free service but, balancing is charged always. This inconsistency prevails between the service centers itself. In Chennai, while TAFE doesn't charge for the alignment, VST does charge it.

I vividly remember going into Manipal Motors for my 3rd free service of the Palio. I specifically requested wheel rotation in addition to alignment and balancing. The mechanic attending to my car took off all the wheel and then proceeded to roll two wheels at a time to the balancing machine. When I asked him how will he identify which wheel goes where and that the rotation is done right, all I got as a reply was a blank stare :A

That shouldn't be there. Also the neatness factor that observed during your last service is also impressive. Never seen at any place where they covering the steering , seats with plastic cover to protect it from dirt.

Are you referring to the old Tata service station in Chennai?

Correct. I still don't understand why there is such inconsistency. Wouldn't Tata/Fiat provide list of items to be undertaken for the free service and what needs to be charged and what not?

Firstly one must understand, its not just the money, its more to do with the intent and ethics followed. The relationship should not be built by ignoring the small amount in the bill, I will not follow this. I will be empathetic and more accommodating with the people who help in maintaining my car, but not by ignoring the small amounts for whatever reason it appears in the bill. The very same happens in all service centers irrespective of the brand.

This happened to me personally in the highly rated Toyota service center (Viva Toyota). In Viva Toyota they use 3M windshield cleaner concentrate which yields a light blue color when diluted and filled in the tank. However, I had already topped it up with Sonax windshield washer fluid which yields, slightly yellow/orangish color when filled in the tank. On seeing the charge, I questioned the SA about why its charged, he said they added concentrate to the already full tank which did not yield any bluish color at all. On mentioning about the color, the SA finally relent and took the charge off. I shot an email to Toyota about the looting process and got a response in a couple of days that it will be looked into. Did not bother to follow up as the car was already up for sale by then.

A very same experience with RNS Maruti service center too. They charged us for weights when nothing was added. I had noted what was on the wheels.

So not putting it only against KHT, the loot word is synonymous to most service centers if not all.

Adit, if you still feel offended with the word l***, I will ask the mods to replace it with a suitable word. Note, the intention to bring it your notice is only to help you out as you are striving to build an excellent sales outlet and a service center. If you feel the feedback was not necessary kindly ignore.

Mod's Note: Masked the word. Let's not use harsh word & let's give opportunity to KHT to respond. adit is a fellow member and needs to be heard first.

+ 100 to that. @nkrishnap - you hit the nail on the head. It is not the money, but it is the ethics that is being questioned here. Why not provide better service at a premium? I am sure the true enthusiast will be more than happy to pay.

I fondly remember the days in Australia, where I could just pick up the phone and request the car be picked up for service. The service centre would gladly send some one over to pick the car up, do a great job of fixing all issues reported, proactively inform of issues not reported but observed, and then deliver the car back at your door step with a smile. Sure they charged for everything, but there was no bitterness or bad aftertaste.

Well Adit, I guess you didn't read over the "word".

Please tell me this. Either you should charge a lumpsum amount for consumables

List out each consumable individually, like super glue, cotton waste, water, electricity, blah blah and charge the consumer.

But I, as a consumer, see both these practices in KHT's bills.

Do remember that it's the goodwill of your consumers which would make your business go places.

While I saw consumables in my bill and questioned Kuldeep, he said 'Sir, we did top-up'.

The only fluid they topped up was the coolant, that too with some random H2O from a white jar. I was watching everything without having lunch even. When I brought this up, he kept mum for a moment and waived it off.

Why this practice? KHT has a good name among FIATians and we only want it to get better. Please take it in the right spirit.

And yeah, regarding my english, I tend to use 'CON' whenever some smartie tries to pull a fast one on me. You may call it, shortchanging or over-charging. Cheers!!

Let's not go off topic by posting regarding other service stations on this thread. All such posts should be posted in other relevant threads. All such posts would be moved/ deleted. This is Service Centre review pertaining to KHT Motors and should be limited to the topic being discussed i.e. e.g. was charging savinivas Rs. 250/- blanket for consumables without specific details during 3rd Free scheduled service is right or wrong according to you? What about few other charges i.e. Cotton waste or superglue or windscreen washer etc etc? Do you think that if other ASCs are charging something else similarly which you feel is not right, does it justify the above charges by KHT & makes it right or one should not discuss it ? Just an example - Do you think that if many people are doing corruption in daily life, one can say that corruption is not bad since it's done by almost everybody?

First, I see some comments that this consumables are charged only by KHT, please search the forum, its been charged randomly at so many places, including Chennai, Pune and Mumbai (I just searched and found lots os threads).

There is a similar thread and let us keep all extra service cost type general discussion here -

As I mentioned, Others also charges. So question is not specific to KHT.
Yes we have option to hear back from adit to get it clarified, none of other SCs has clarified yet.
Now either we can question why KHT is also charging, or get it clarified why this is charged. Before we know, we should not make a judgement that its wrong.

There was other line also adit mentioned that he will check this specific case of Srinivas, but we all diverted topic and went personal. Long term relatiohship can't be maintained by only one party.

Very valid points krishna, but lets keep only KHT specific discussion here.

First one must be sure its corruption. Sometime traffic police fines and giving you receipt, but other passerby always think he is taking bribe.:)

@DRIVER, I see your profile, you are from chennai, how come you went to KHT?

^^ Do you need my chassis number or a scan copy of the bill?

Wonder what you are curious about. :)

I got the first service done there. Heard good things about them and hence. That much I care about my car. I spent around 8 hours there, skipping lunch, went through Adit only, by fixing an appointment.

They did not take the car in till 12 PM, even after me going to the SA multiple times and reminding him that there is a free bay for Fiat.

Next thing is they made a small dent on the right door in that tight parking space. And during delivery, I saw that my 2 day old 3M sunfilm was damaged for 2 inches in both front windows.

Forgot to mention one more incident. Since I was hanging around the car, just before my car was taken in, a random KHT employee was leaving out with his baggage. Another guy was just reversing my car to be taken in to the workshop.

To my shock, this guy asks for a drop and coolly gets in my car, and the car goes out. My blood boils and I summon the SA and GM service Mr Suresh. They labelled this joy-ride a TD. The car comes after ten minutes after multiple calls from GM to the said guy driving my car.

Just got irritated and asked for some professionalism.

Anyways, I guess these are enough details for Ravi.
