    Last weekend I gave my car (90HP Emotion Punto) for its first service to KHT Fiat Service center.

    I had taken an appointment for 20th April (sunday). A service advisor Shaaba spoke to me. I asked him to to work on the following aspects:
    1. A few days back, I had felt no response from the throttle when I pressed the accelerator lever. I faced this for a couple of seconds when in 5th gear. Again, (on the same day), when starting from first gear, the car did not give any response to the throttle even when pressed hard. (If I had not properly slotted into gear, then the engine should have revved up higher when throttle was pressed hard, but it didnt give any response). I switched off, and turned on the car again. This time everything worked as normal. I asked that this problem should be looked into. It must be noted that it was raining on the particular day that I faced this problem.
    2. The doors, especially the front left door, needed a li'l effort to close.
    3. I wanted that a rat mesh be applied to the car so that a rat cannot get into the wiring harness (or dashboard easily).

    The service adviser noted down my problems and gave me an estimate of the costs involved (the rat mesh is primarily labour charge, the charge on parts is very less), and promised delivery on the next day.

    I called up Shaaba on monday and asked if the car would be ready for delivery by evening. The car was delivered as promised on time.

    At the time of delivery,
    1. The rat mesh application was explained to me by (Ashwin or Ashok, dont remember the name very well).
    2. I noticed that the rubber beading on the front windshield had come off and wasnt fixed. I showed this, and the problem was fixed promptly.
    3. I was given a chance to test the vehicle before paying the bill. Shaaba explained all the charges. He explained that wheel alignment was checked and it was fine. However, I was not given a wheel alignment report.
    4. I noticed later that the steering wheel was tilting to the right. The car was going straight, but it seemed that the steering wheel was not aligned properly. I showed this to a mechanic nearby. The car was promptly taken to the wheel alignment bay. The saw that wheels were aligned, but the steering was not. So, the wheels were aligned again in such a manner that the steering is now aligned properly. A person by name Rajesh helped me with this and explained all the details.

    Regarding the throttle issue, Mr.Shaaba told me that they had checked for the presence of any errors and had not detected any. He also informed me that the warranty person had been informed of the issue with my car, and asked me to get the car to service station immediately if the problem recurs.

    Overall my experience was positive, except for the issue with the steering wheel alignment going wrong. However, Mr.Rajesh was very helpful in solving the problem.

    I observed after the service that the area near the aircon (that divides the front seats), towards the driver side was getting a li'l warm while driving. I am not sure if this is how it was prior to the service. Will observe this a li'l more closely for some more time.

    By the way, I forgot to add an important observation.

    A Linea (white color one) was being reversed by a mechanic in the service station. This guy scratched it against a metal chair while doing so. I was shocked by how the cars are handled. I dont remember the vehicle number, nor did I observe if the linea had a scratch after the incident.

    Adit, can you please instruct the service staff to ensure that the vehicle is taken care of in a responsible manner.

    Just got my car back from KHT Service after 60,000 service + a couple of jobs at the body shop.
    SA Sharath(at the service station) + Manjunath(at the body shop) handled my car.

    22 Apr: Gave my car for service in the morning. The whole process took 1 hour mainly due to the wait time. Sharath and Manju were courteous though looked to be in hurry (morning rush may be). Car was supposed to be ready by 23 Apr after service and 26th morning after body work. Estimate given was 25,000 for service and 7,500 for body shop.

    22 Apr & 23 Apr: Manju called up and updated.

    25 Apr: I called up and Manju said car would be ready by 25th evening itself, but as planned earlier I took delivery on 26th morning.

    Observations
    + Time was adhered to - in fact car was ready for delivery one evening before committed date.
    + Estimate and final bill were pretty close, though I'm not knowledgeable to comment on whether all the necessary replacements were necessary
    + The SAs spared enough time during delivery. They were courteous to talk to and explained all charges in the bill.

    - The process and time it takes when submitting the car is too time consuming. That inspite of knowing there won't be too many a fiat cars coming in for service.
    - The recetption and office area is simply put - shabby. This was observed on both days - too many cluttered papers lying around, one abused printer etc.
    - In my opinion, a car being delivered post service must be clean and shining. It was a let down. I have had much better experience with Honda and Hyundai in this regard.

    All in all, a fairly OK experience!
    Could have been better - off course!
