    KHT avoided my car, back at Concorde

    "The expertise of a mechanic is proved when he resolves a not-so-common issue. A regular service is a DIY job if one has the time and parts"

    KHT motors simply surrendered by not taking my car for repair even after repeated reminders from me via email and the request from the KHT director not being addressed by the service manager. Is this because of the lack of expertise, this can be a open question, but for me its a big YES.

    So going back to Concorde motors, Dairy Circle was my only option since non-availability of parts was my only issue with them. Yesterday I reached CM and as always Mahsud Khan was snatching the job card from someone who was preparing the same for my car, its his car, no messing with him. :).

    After examining my car in detail and trying basic stuffs like changing fuses, I was told the AC issue needs more investigation. Mileage issue anyway needs more diagnosis. Left the car at SC saying "please return the car before Friday", giving him enough time to diagnose and fix both the issues.

    Just now got a call saying the AC compressor needs replacement. This was changed on the 7th month last year and the warranty on the part expires after 6months, so planning to get this covered under extended warranty, I hope its covered, the policy is in my car at SC, so no access to it to confirm at this moment.

    Odo reads 73,500km now..

    Pran, you did absolutely right thing by going back to Concorde dairy circle!

    I am saying this even though I have been to KHT umpteen no of times and have a very good rapport with everyone there, I have had to push for each and every work that I have got done there. They lack in expertise in a lot of things and they do not have a professional attitude! Khan in Concorde is far more knowledgable about Fiats than any other SA across SC's. Also i have felt Concorde SC has the most professional attitude compared to KHT and Prerana!

    Thats the reason why I got my 45k Service done at Concorde under Khan last month. Till then its been KHT always (since its near to my office). This time I thought enough is enough.. and went with Concorde.

    In KHTs case I have also experienced noticeable downfall in service quality after their CRM/DGM Javid left this Jan. Things have not been same since then! Hope Adit reads all this

    Concorde is running a free checkup camp for FIATs on 7th and 8th July. I checked with them and found out that it is from FIAT and concorde. Is KHT running any such camp? I didn't see any update anywhere.

    During my Punto's last service at KHT, I had requested to update my contact details in the TATA database. Previously, only the name was incorrect... Now the contact number is wrong too. and email is not updated too...Which means I will not get any information about campaigns and offers from TATA-FIAT.

    I might not visit KHT motors SC again! Atleast right now thats how I am feeling!

    This is what happened today, in detail:

    After receiving a message yesterday evening asking to come for free checkup, oil/coolant topups, body wash, lunch and free gift from KHT motors, I decided to spare some time and go there today!

    Reached there at 10:30 AM and gave the car. I told them couple more small issues to check if it doesn't take much time.
    1. high beam focus adjustment.
    2. one tail light is loose because of which sometimes warning light comes up.
    3. bolts/clip missing from both rear wheel arches due to which tak tak sound comes sometimes over speed breakers (rear bumper was repaired sometime back at kht itself, since then the bolts/clips are missing!)

    All the above three issues were attempted to be fixed but without any positive results.
    most of the SC's don't have have any tool to do high beam adjustment and its difficult to get it right manually during daytime. Had tried it before in Concorde as well without success.

    Still I was pretty happy since they atleast tried to fix the extra issues that i had reported in their tight schedule. I got my punto back around 1:00 PM. Gave them good feedback, had a picture clicked while collecting the gift. They requested me to have lunch but i wanted to reach home fast so I said thanks a lot and sat in the car to leave.

    I sat inside and closed the door! something fell down on the passenger side floor. I thought GPS fell down as Sometimes it falls if not stuck properly! I looked down, it was not GPS, Inside Rear View Mirror ( IRVM ) had fell down.

    I was sure that something happened to it when car was inside the workshop because there was a locket hanging around the IRVM before the car was taken inside which was now kept nicely in the bottle holder near the gear lever.

    I immediately called Mr Rao and explained the same thing to him. Being a very polite gentleman as always, immediately he called the spare parts section to check if IRVM was available. He came to know that they had received the ORVM in place IRVM by mistake. I went to the spare parts section myself to check. came to know tha the part is expected to arrive by tuesday or thursday! I told them to check where else in bangalore its available. The system showed its available at Concorde begur rd/ rajajinagar and Prerana Peenya.

    I knew that now I have to drive the car like this for another 3 days minimum. I went back to the car dissapointed. I had already opened the gift but i didn't feel like keeping it anymore. Took it out and kept it back on their table and drove out!
    I called Mr Rao after leaving the SC. Told him that i have left the gift there and am feeling very bad now! He apologized again and told me he is also feeling bad about it and not to worry as he will get the IRVM in couple of days and fix it for me. I told okay. But that didn't change my mood. Thought of writing this as soon as I get back home.

    To emphasize on the relation I have had with KHT till date, ,mentioned below is the list of people whom I know by their names at KHT SC and greet them everytime I see them:

    I want to mention that I have always been treated well at KHT but at times I have been let down by their expertise and professionalism. Even todays good experience turned into a bad one by a small little thing which might have been one individual's mistake. However small it was, it made me drive out from there angry and unhappy!

    Sorry to hear this. Hope you will get it replaced as committed.

    I got my car checked from Concorde Dairy circle today. They have a checklist of some 30 points and all are ticked OK. Additionally they have washed the car. There were no offers (no lunch or free gift). Khan from Concorde explained me what all they have checked. He said the engine shield had a dent and they repaired it.

    I'm happy with the service Concorde offered.

    Sorry to hear this. This an example of how one idiot can spoil the goodwill. It requires quite an effor to break the IVRM. Cannot think waht he attempted there!
    As for headlamp focus adjustment, when my car was new it had this issue and was very difficult to drive in the night. It was resolved at KHT during my second service. Mr Vinod was the SA then if I remember correctly. Till date it is fine.
    May be those are reserved for those who came on Saturday. They offered me snacks and also a gift while leaving.

    am really sorry to hear about what happened. I do not have an explanation about this and nor am i going to give any excuse for the laps from my end. But yes action has been initiated is what i can assure you.

    To what others have mentioned, I would like to pen down a few thoughts about your guys at the SC.

    Vinod was good with his understanding of the car, but he has anyways quit.

    Most of the guys on the floor always seeks a shortcut to get the problem resolved which leads to another problem. I can give you an example. My friends's Punto had squeking noise from the rear drums. With this the car was given to the service center, the only that was done was anti rust spray applied on the rear drums. Now please tell me how on earth will this solve a squeeking problem, which requires lubrication by application of grease. We had to literally fight with the people on the service floor to get this done.

    Please train your guys to handle things the way it should be. No shortcuts will yield results over a longer period.

    Not every car that comes in for service or with a complaint is an indicab. I say this because this is how the cars are treated.

    Note: This post not meant to be offensive, but trying to get the point across to facilitate improvement at the service end.
