Guys!! At least i had good experience at Balaji,Thane. Of course the service center need some more time to settle down. But, when it comes to servicing the car they are doing a decent job. A friend of mine is getting his 90Hp sports (odo 24K) serviced from Balaji from the very first day and he is very happy with the servicing. About money part, we normally get rough estimates before we start with any kinda job. So, that time you can point it out.
I paid close to 3200/- for EGR/manifold/inter-cooler cleaning And they did a good job. So, don't worry I dont see this service center going on the path of millennium FIAT ASS. When i was at balaji i met some person from FIAT and he told me that Millennium will be up and running in april and soon punekar will have Pandit's exclusive FIAT service center. Keeping the fingers crossed.
Anyway FIAT owners in mumbai may not have too many choices other than BALAJI atleast in the near future. TCRS worli has stopped accepting cars. So the only one SC that was good in Mumbai is no longer available.
Here is my story of Balaji. In a nutshell it was a neutral experience.
I got my brake pads replaced at Balaji. I took an appointment with them last Saturday 9.30 AM only to be disappointed after reaching that the "PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE". They said I should have been confirming over the phone about the parts availability which I very well did and only then stepped in to the SC. After a bit of confusion and here and there and they said they do have part but for OLDER MODELS which may not fit mine.
Disappointed and hopeless I was to leave the SC when SA told me that I can expect the part by Tuesday (they had some shipment expected). I said OK and exchanged the numbers. It was Tuesday and I was on spirited drive on NH8 returning back (yeah I am vacationing!) when the phone rang. It was Wilson! He said the part is here and I can come NOW!!!
I was delighted as things were perfectly timed; I took Thane exit and reached Ghodbunder just to get ticketed by PANDU for having film on my car!!! He advised me of getting rid of it (no, in Mumbai they don't strip it) which I am obviously NOT. Someday someone should file a counter petition for ALLOWING SUN FILMS at least with permissible transparency because Indian conditions do ask for it.
After this, I reached SC and my car was immediately on the stands. The SC, I must say, is big and crowded. Loads and loads of Lineas and Puntos (may be the only SC left J). The scene was pretty than SHARED SCs.
I was allowed inside their workshop to see the whole work. The mechanic seemed very well trained and he immediately started loosening the brake oil reservoir cap and then unmounting the wheels etc. While he was repairing he said me that someone really fitted the brake assembly wrongly on the LHS (though he didn’t mentioned what exactly was wrong). I told him I got brakes cleaned from TCRS several months back to which he was mum.
It took around 2 hours to replace the brakes/rotors and calibrate them. The job was well done, the brakes got their bite back and I got bitten in my pocket for 7000 bucks!!!
Can you give us the exact break up of the charges for parts and labour
The cost seems to be at par with what Fortune Powai charges (if not more). So if Fortune continues to accept Fiats then they still continue to be a good option for Fiats in Mumbai
Here is the breakup
Brake pads - 2924
Rotors - 1996
Total with tax - 5536
Labour - 1348
Total - 6884
i have completed 35k on my linea on 4 years and my full service was due.so i went to balaji autoworld today and asked the SA(sameer) to give me an estimate on full service plus brakepads and braked disc change. the estimate was mind-boggling :
total service : 10k
brake disc : 2.5 k
total estimate : around 17k+tax
i will get my car tomorrow afternoon because there is too much load which can be seen by the number of cars (mostly lineas) on display.i have never seen a FIAT SC flooded with so many cars.i think i am now really worried about quality of service balaji will provide considering they dont have ready stock of lotsaa spares.i am gonna go over the bill and decide whether to get my car serviced from my mechanic in mulund who bad-mouths FIAT:evil: every time i visit him.also for the very first time i am gonna have to check whether the spare parts they have put in my car are genuine and new.
I think there needs to be a new sub-forum on city specific independent garage reviews. I'm planning to go to the Charkhop outfit RS Motors for next service as I have little choice now. No point in going to Thane to get ripped off like this
We are too quick to judge anything. One bad review and everyone started bashing FIAT. Give them some more time. Don't expect wonders too soon.
