Do we have anyone with buying experience from RDC?
Not exactly buying, but here it goes.
After all the drama was still willing to purchase the 1.2 from RDC, but then their final quote was 30K more than what True Sai offered, for the SAME car. Open negotiation also didn't work, RDC wants fat margins I guess.
They might have thought that they don't have any competition in Chennai. And those who decide to buy a Fiat will buy it anyway. But, they have missed to realize that those who want to buy a Fiat will go to dealers in other Cities too.
I can share my buying experience only when Fiat India shows some "daya" towards people like me by quickly announcing a new product.
As of now they are following up very well but they always end by telling me that,"Sir! No new product for 2013" .
So, I can't get a feedback from you for the whole of 2013?
My not so sweet buying experience with RDC Chennai
We started our car buying research last December and we shortlisted Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai i10. We were trying to see if we get a good cash discount on 2012 petrol models, however, we couldn’t find anything. Since, Maruti stopped taking Wagon R bookings, we had no choice other than Hyundai i10. So, we went to DSC Hyundai CIT Nagar to make a booking, but, had to hold the booking for the next auspicious day. On our way back, we were stopped by the shiny new building of FIAT RDC Motors. We were just curious about the new showroom and went inside to get some details. We did not have Punto in our list as it was a little beyond our budget. We entered the showroom and we could still see the work was still going on inside the showroom. We met Rafiq & Madhumitha at the showroom (fortunately both of them are no more with RDC) and we were just looking at the 1.2l petrol models. Unfortunately, RDC did not had any petrol variants at the showroom or for a test drive. Rafiq and Madhu had offered us some 8,000 cash discount, 5,000 corporate discount, accessories like door mats, mud flap, door sil, full cover, 3M paint protection and anti-rust coating as freebies. We were promised that the car would be delivered in 30 days. We were so delighted and we thought of going for Punto as the extra 90K was worth spending on the ride and handling of Punto. So, at last we finalized it was FIAT GP 1.2 L Exotic Red Dynamic variant.
We decided a date Jan 22[SUP]nd[/SUP] to make a booking and my father went and paid a lac as an initial amount. At the time of booking they reduced the cash discount from 5,000 to 3,000 as they cannot give for 2013 model. In spite of this change, my father completed the booking process and signed all the order form. Rafiq and Madhu confirmed that VIN would be allotted in 10 -15 day’s time. Till then everything went on fine, we started to have issues when there was delay in our order. We never got any updates from RDC about the status of our order. We used call RDC once in a week to understand if we got VIN number. After a numerous calls and e-mails to Fazil (Sales Manager) and the team the 1.2L Exotic Red was manufactured at the plant after 40 days. The sales manager advised that there was a delay at FIAT to manufacture the Red variant of 1.2L petrol. I even called up FIAT Customer Service and I was promised that I would receive a call from Sales team within 48 hours, but, no one returned a call.
After almost 1.5 months of long wait, we were given the VIN number and we were informed that car was ready to be transported to Chennai. The car arrived to RDC yard around Mar 8[SUP]th[/SUP], however, we could not do the PDI until Mar 18[SUP]th[/SUP] as we were out that time. After PDI was completed, we had done the registration formalities and we were asked to take the delivery of the car on Friday the Mar 2[SUP]nd[/SUP].
On the delivery date, my father and bro were ready to get the car picked up from the showroom. I just reminded my bro to collect the 4 freebies and to confirm the paint protection and under-chasis were done. To our surprise, Rafiq & Madhu had informed us that full cover was not listed in order form and they said that won’t be able to give us. We tried to explain that full cover was promised at the time of enquiry and they have not informed us that the offer is no more available. Since, my father signed the order form, he didn’t get a chance to review the freebies. We had a long argument with Rafiq & Madhu and they informed us that they will check with the managers on the full cover. At the end, it was not a happy moment while we took delivery.
One side, we were happy enjoying our ride and the other side we are still following up with RDC the full-cover. To our surprise we found that both Rafiq & Madhu are no more with RDC and we were liaising with Deepika. To our shock, we found from Deepika that RDC is not equipped with anti-rust coating and she feels that it may not have been done. We felt so bad that people in RDC made promises just at that time of booking and nothing was made to keep the promises. We feel that we have been cheated badly as we believed in RDC being a new showroom.
RDC can be rated at 6/10. There need to improve on a lot of things.
Thanks for sharing your experience Pradeep.
It comes as no surprise to me. What more can be expected from the (in)famous sales lead who joined from VST to RDC? I myself had a very bad experience with him at VST. We have lot of negative case studies. Never mind. The car will not fail you and will bring you smile everytime you are at the driver's seat. Oh Yes, my hearty Congratulations on your car.
Way to go RDC. If you don't have a proper process in place, you are going to fail miserably along with Fiat.
Thanks very much Ramjin. In fact, we are happy taking our car out. So, thats one of the positives about the new purchase.
This fraud guy has kept his dirty hands on my insurance policy, and I am noticing it only now after an year while renewing the insurance.
To increase his margins, he has given an IDV of 585000, and hence lesser premium, for a brand new car costing 700000 ex showroom. Filthy tactic to make a sale.

To my surprise, RDC Fiat have started a new customer feedback forum where the reps meet up the customers over the weekend to get the feedback about the car & the buying experience. I met Ms. Aashika & Mr. Sharavan over the weekend and the meeting was really pleasant. I informed about the issues I faced with sales rep during the booking and delivery. They promptly noted all the issues I faced and gave a hope that they will try their best to resolve them at the earliest. They also informed me that RDC is planning to set-up a bigger service center at Ambattur and new showroom at Anna Nagar. The way Mr. Sharavan spoke about RDC plans for the furure looks promising and I hope RDC & Fiat to get it right
