Thanks for likes :).. I have small query, is it possible to know the car's manufacturing date by any chance before the purchase. just want to ensure I receive a recent one. I read that from VIN we should be able to decode it.
Tomorrow I am visiting the KHT motors to have a discussion with Irshad who was my point of contact.

Thanks Adit :).. infact interacting in this forum is giving me little confidence that i have people around me to support and clarify. It was like am venturing into a forest blindfold before, not the same feeling now !!!

AFAIK I think by visiting their stock yard and referring to VIN numbers would give away the make dates.

When you are booking the car within a week you will be given the vin number which you can decode and get to know the manufacturing month,year..and once the car reaches the stockyard at the time of pdi you should match the vin number..

    When you book a vehicle:

    1. The dealer places an order with the manufacturer, for the model and colour of your choice
    2. The manufacturer checks his inventory to see if they have a matching one
    a. For fast moving vehicles, like Alto or i10, usually they will not and will manufacture the vehicle for you.
    b. In case of demand being more than capacity, you order will go into a queue - hence the waiting time
    c. In case of vehicles with lesser demand, for example FIAT, the manufacturer usually will have your choice in stock
    d. They will usually ship it in the next consignment - 2 weeks.
    3. When a vehicle gets assigned to you and is yet to even leave the plant, the VIN will be communicated to the dealer
    4. The dealer will then communicate the same to you - at least in theory
    5. You then decode and find out the exact time frame of manufacture

This is the reason, you will usually be offered a relatively old vehicle from FIAT, more frequently than other manufacturers. However, you are fully within your rights to refuse the vehicle and cancel your booking at any point in time, unless you have paid the dealer in full and the vehicle has been registered in your name. If you sadly do cancel, the dealer will offer the vehicle to the next customer, usually stating "immediate delivery"

Experts - please correct if I am wrong.

@Patchyboy: Completely agree. But, one has to state it clearly or take in writing that there wouldn't be any amount deducted if one chooses to cancel the booking. Have heard many stories where 5k out of the booking amount has been deducted as cancellation charges. Its mostly mentioned on the booking reciept or voucher given to the customer.

In the booking form it is stated that an amount of 2k will be deducted in case of cancellation..
